I've had better days.

I've pretty much confirmed that there is a problem with my beloved Parker, which means I'm going to have to bring it to somebody in Toronto to have some possibly expensive repairs.

For the guitar nerds among you (and Dogslife, I realize this may essentially single you out), I think there's a problem with the power getting from the battery to the preamp. I'm not actually sure if the magnetic pickups are active or passive, and I'd originally thought that the preamp was only for the piezo system. But when the piezo goes, the magnetic pickups go as well. Boo! If I buy another one, it will be a stoptail without the piezo system, just so I won't have to worry about the real wierdness about the guitar. Anyways, I get no sound at all from the piezo system, and the sound from the magnetic pickup is at a reduced volume and seems more dull. Fucktart.

Anyways... to borrow a line from Dogslife (two shout-outs in one entry? that's crazy!):

I am rage.

The fuckheads at American Airlines cancelled the gf's flight back from the States without telling her. I have to find out what their policy on this sort of thing is, because it's extremely likely the cancellation would have occurred while she was over the Pacific fucking ocean. They've put her on a later flight, and I can only hope she's in the air finally now. (Update: turns out she wasn't. They started delaying the replacement flight. Motherfuckers. I haven't heard from her in several hours, so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that she's in Canada now.) I went out to get some groceries so there would be all her favourite comfort foods in the apartment when she got back, but I got home to an attempted collect call on the voice mail. I hope she's okay.

So she was given no notification that her flight was no longer taking place. Nobody would make change for her to use the phones. Finally, she managed to get some american money and then found out the phones didn't even take change. People were unco-operative, extremely rude, and brushing her off at every turn.

Normally, I'm an awfully calm guy. But I won't abide genuine meanness, especially when it's to a tiny little thing who's very obviously in severe distress.. She was nearly hysterical when I spoke to her earlier.

If I had been there and witnessed in person somebody treating her that way, I would have beaten them until they stopped moving. I haven't hit anybody since the sixth grade. (And seeing as how we were out at dinner with he and his wife the other week, I think that wound has healed.), but I wish very greivous harm on these fucking assholes.

There's fresh fruit and any number of meals that can be prepared easily waiting for her. There are chips. There's her favourite pop that's made, if I understand correctly, with pressed elderflowers. I will be happy to see her and will hold her until she falls asleep.

But I'm powerless to get back at the spineless scumfucks who hid behind their creed of "We're American Airlines, so fuck you, insignificant and inconvenient passenger."

The only thing I can do is plead with you and ask that you never give those horrible bastards any of your business. They were callous and unhelpful at a time when somebody I care about deeply was frightened and in need of help. Picture yourself after a long and tiring flight only to find out your plans are ruined, you're stranded in a foreign country, you have no real access to currency, you have no easy way of calling your loved ones (I'm going to beat myself up for missing that call until she gets here and she's safe), and nobody will help you. (Update: she didn't call while I was out. That message was from before she got ahold of me the first time. Everything's more or less kosher now.)

There are circles of Hell that don't rank up against what I would consider fair retribution for that.

Fuck you, American Airlines.
