You know, the longer I'm out in this alleged "real world", the more certain I become that I'm the only person in any building I've ever lived in who has ever cleaned the lint trap in a dryer after using it.
I understand the occasional "I forgot". It happens, and I'm no mercenary. But this systematic abuse of the privileges entailed in the modern apartment complex laundry room has simply got to be curbed by any means necessary.
On my mind at this moment: My toe hurts. I love my job, and I genuinely like and respect the people I'm lucky enough to work with. The Pad Thai I had at lunch was a little sub-par. And I'm finding the community here utterly fascinating.
It's unusual to have a heartfelt concern for the goings-on in the lives of what are in essence strangers. And yet I find myself wondering over the course of my work day how so-and-so is doing, how that thing went with the other thing, and I'm genuinely happy when I get home from the office and a few spiffy folks have said howdy back.
That's all for now. Heaped on the laundry injustices I'm ordained to endure is the fact that the damn room is locked at 10PM, so I've got to watch the clock and ensure I'm down there to rescue my tumblin' loads before the super puts them in lockdown.
My socks won't even be at "damp" by that point.
Curses.

The workout mixes vary - there is one with Dance & Hip Hop to motivate me when I'm feeling lazy (slightly-embarrassing, guilty pleasure stuff like Gangstarr from the Office Space soundtrack & Janet Jackson, plus Beastie Boys, House of Pain, etc.). Another mix is Industrial & Rock (e.g. NIN, The Pixies, Jesus & Mary Chain, etc.). Then there is my 80's mix, which is especially fun and includes BOWIE...
It's great that you love your job. That's pretty rare, I find. Too bad about the Pad Thai though - it's usually so good.
I hope your socks have dried by now!!!
