I survived my first NAMM show, which was pretty cool. I actually can't wait to go back, both for another year of NAMM (where hopefully somebody else will be "the new guy" who gets put on "man the booth" detail), and to go back to California, which I absolutely loved despite getting only a four day taste of it, that consisted primarily of the stretch of Anaheim between my hotel and the convention centre. We made it up into Hollywood for a party, but that was about as much of LA as I saw outside of the airport.

Celeb watching was fun. I saw Warren G, Stephen from the Deftones, Munky from Korn, Kerry King, Mick Mars, and I got to meet Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, the drummer from Jethro Tull (maybe I'm old, but that was fucking cool), one of the new lads from A Flock of Seagulls, and, my personal high point of the show as a videogame nerd, George "The Fat Man" Sanger.

The biggest disappointment was hitting one of the booths only to find that Coheed and Cambria (who regular readers may remember played Toronto the night before I realized they were my favourite band and decided to see if they'd be in Canada any time soon) had played just an hour before. Ouuuuuuuch.

I'll post some pics once I figure out the best way to get them off my camera (i either need to find the connector cable or get a card reader).

I really enjoyed going. It was my first real trip in probably two decades, so international travel was a little intimidating, but I pulled through and arrived in one piece, and I'm eager to return. I had my heart set on moving to LA about six months ago when a particular job was so close I could taste it, so it was nice to get to at least make the trip and see a bit of California firsthand. I haven't seen many things more amazing than LA at night from ten thousand feet.
