So I survived the weekend sans Bowie.

I'm a little upset with Ticketmaster. 85 bones per ticket and I don't even get an email saying "The concert is cancelled"??? If the gf hadn't happened to hit the Toronto Star's webpage and they didn't happen to mention the cancellation right on the main page... we would have been out bus fare and paid for a rather...

I'm STILL sorry about Bowie! Will he return for a "make-up" show? Stupid Ticketmaster... bastards.

At least you had a relaxing weekend with your gf - that can be nice too! Have a wonderful evening! smile
problmatic59576:
yeah i hear ya about december birthdays, too close to christmas and you get fucked out of gifts, or you get the ever so lovely... "here this is your birthday and xmas gift" that really irritates me, maybe because i am super scrooge! smile

Bowie is sick and has postponed his Toronto show.

This is what it sounds like when doves cry.
gigi:
Damn. I am SO sorry to hear that! Maybe the postponement will make it that much sweeter when you actually get to see him... confused

Work, work, work, work, work.

The Pad Thai at lunch today was much better than last time, although still not as good as it can be from that restaurant.

Is it too much to ask for consistently delicious Pad Thai?

And so I have survived my 28th birthday! I think I was only one shot over the line (a feat, given the open bar). The room didn't start to spin until my head was already on the pillow.

I woke up early (it's my curse when I drink. I'm not fully rested, but I can't get back to sleep), used the... how to phrase it......

thanks for all that. I've been down this path before, and at times have probably employed items from your list in varying combinations to come back to some state of ok. w/r/t this weeks mounting stress, really the only answer is to patiently deal with the hearts of the varying matters and ride through it. AND WRITE.

thanks for all the well wishes and let me send you best regards post-b-day. congrats, you made it another one.

Oh, man - what a week coming up:

Tomorrow is my birthday and the ultra-styling staff Christmas Party (fortunately, I work with a crew of pretty cool people), so it will be a knock-down drag-out celebration until we're all carted back and dumped in a heap on the floor of our hotel.

Wednesday is a bachelor party for a friend of mine that promises to...

Happy Birthday, man! As my present to you...here are the rules to my FAMILY GUY DRINKING GAME!
1. Must have HARD LIQUOR, not beer. You can drink beer seperately, but not as part of the game
2.In an episode, there's always short scenes that are literary or pop-culture references. When one of these happens, everyone takes a shot.
3. Each reference is someone else's turn to NAME the reference. Is the person who's "it" cannot name teh reference, they have to drink TWO shots in succession.
4. Anytime the show cuts to a compltely RANDOM scene that isn't a reference...everyone takes a shot.

That's it. Hope you enjoy! Good luck getting through the first few episodes.... biggrin

Without contradicting my undying love for my job, one of the guys I have to work with most often can be such a freaking JERK sometimes.

He's a pretty good guy most of the time, but about once a season he manages to cross over a couple of pretty important lines regarding professional conduct and courtesy.

Rule of thumb: it's fine to swear like a...

You know, the longer I'm out in this alleged "real world", the more certain I become that I'm the only person in any building I've ever lived in who has ever cleaned the lint trap in a dryer after using it.

I understand the occasional "I forgot". It happens, and I'm no mercenary. But this systematic abuse of the privileges entailed in the modern apartment...

Since you asked, my mp3 player is a little iRock 830. I love it's size and battery life, but not the memory! My husband and I each got one, and the idea of buying 2 expensive ones at once was too scary...

The workout mixes vary - there is one with Dance & Hip Hop to motivate me when I'm feeling lazy (slightly-embarrassing, guilty pleasure stuff like Gangstarr from the Office Space soundtrack & Janet Jackson, plus Beastie Boys, House of Pain, etc.). Another mix is Industrial & Rock (e.g. NIN, The Pixies, Jesus & Mary Chain, etc.). Then there is my 80's mix, which is especially fun and includes BOWIE...

It's great that you love your job. That's pretty rare, I find. Too bad about the Pad Thai though - it's usually so good. biggrin

I hope your socks have dried by now!!!

Great googly-moogly... can it really ALMOST all be done?

I think I've got just about the entire collection converted over, give or take one or two dozen CDs that will require special attention (ie indie bands - most often friends of mine - who don't have their vitals in CDDB, or albums with 27 minutes of empty space at the end of them... seriously -...

thanks. I too have had a few years of dealing with parental health, but this one, while totally a necessary and good procedure is, by it's nature, a major major one. again, thanks, that's really cool of you. smile

I'm so jealous! I had to be cheap and buy a 128mb mp3 player - but at least it's encouraging me to exercise! (I have to bribe myself to exercise - how sad,) So what are your favorite songs/artists to listen to lately?

Wow. Nice and toasty on two pints. Don't you love it when one of those evenings where you just don't want to leave the apartment because it's raining and it's the end of the work week and you just feel like crap and you only agree to go out because one of your friends just insists and insists and won't let it drop and it...

yes, there are times when life gives you a big "hello" and shines down on you, and you're sitting there beaming and nothing in the world will tear that apart.

whether it be hanging out with friends, engaging in a hobby you love, or eating really good food, sometimes the bastards really can't get you down.

I can understand as I set this page up that the web site will notify me and visitors (hi, both of you!) which sections have no content. "Superflea has no pictures," etc. But when I clicked on the Friends stuff and the web site said "Superflea has no friends"... well that's just COLD!!!

Got to the end of Neil Young as I copy all my...

So welcome to my very own SG homepage. I've been hanging around the site for a while and figured I might as well give one of these together. So I'm trying to interact with all the cool kids - logging into the chat, posting my comments to the journals of utter strangers (is that sort of thing DONE? am i breaking every SG code of...

Well, hello there. Yes, random commenting is most certainly done. Case in point.

Eventually I'll get around to getting an iPod. Mostly, though, I'm just loving minidiscs too much.
