I feel like a horrible person.
I am mad at my roommate for not getting me a birthday present.
Let me explain.
For the holidays this year we agreed to exchange gifts before we went home for break. I gave Nicole a Victoria Secret gift card with a tiny pink teddy bear. (Note I also got her a big gift for her birthday in September). She told me that she knew what she was getting me but she the store had been sold out.
She was getting me the Best of Gilda Radner SNL DVD. I was totally hyped. I love Gilda.
So January rolls around and no DVD.
My 22nd birthday shows up on Jan 28. Nicole has a fight with her boyfriend at his party the night before and spend the day moping in bed. We go out to lunch, I pay for myself. I go to a friends wedding and hum happy birthday to myself.
Still no DVD. No present, no mention no nothing. And it still bothers me. I talk to one of my friends about it and she says to remember my roommate has money problems. This I know. Trust me, she never pays her half of the rent on time. Ever. In fact, I am still waiting for half of her half right now. She bought an I-pod this month.
Then when I was getting ready to go ask for the second half of the rent she came in and told me her uncle died. She drove to Arizona yesterday. She took Satan aka her dog (Raider is his real name) with her.
She goes to class and works all day and the dog spends it in a tiny cage. It's an angry taco bell dog. I HAVE to walk it just to shut it up/ I've been sick. She went to visit her boyfriend on Wednesday night. The dog barked nonstop from 12:30 till 3:30 when she came home. So I was all feavery sore, tired (I was also having 4 hour practices for step show every night that week) and unable to sleep because the dog wanted attention.
Ugh.. I just had to finally get this out because I am so frustrated. Am I a bad person for being upset? For just wanting the damn DVD after 3 months? I mean, she didn't get me a present for my 21st last year. She said she was working on it and never got around to it.

we all want our attention and caring to be reciprocated - it sounds like she takes advantage of your good nature, and i'm betting that you're upset about more than just the DVD. like, if she did show up with it, it probably wouldn't make the other ways she treats you OK...
