I have to declare my love for The Cars. Ric Ocasek is brilliant and their mix of rock and pop music is what defined the coolest band of the '80s. And the fact that all the songs on Heartbreak City were written in '83, my birth year, makes me feel so worthwhile. While there were a lot of great pop bands in the past, few hit me as much as The Cars do. With sultry ballads to charged up rock, Ric Ocasek kept a killer Lou Reed image with the black clothing and usual sunglasses. He was one of the first to show that even badasses can make great pop music.

And speaking of '83, tommarow is my birthday. I am extra excited for this one because I have a very good feeling that this upcoming year will be my best one to date. Everything in my life has come together in so many ways. Just when I felt like I had lost my mind, I was directed towards the front and rear exits of the auditorium. My spirits and inspiration is at a peak. There is one in particular who has clarified it all, and I owe her my deepest gratitude. Thank you Emily.
