I like to imagine that in a past life I was a seeker, an adventurer and explorer. This age is rather dull - all the spaces are explored, everyday life mundane. It is no wonder then that I ponder on the mysteries of the future and worlds beyond our world (in fiction, games, stories and of course the boundless reaches of space).

I was at an orthodontic course over the weekend and the fantastic presenter had some words of wisdom from his years of experience practicing:

"Why do patients want to do what you tell them to? Because they like you. And they like you because you care about them and are a nice person."

Sometimes it's as simple as that (and sometimes it's not but you...

Sharing a piece from Anais Nin's "House of Incest" - one section that had a particularly strong impression on me for its haunting and evocative imagery

"Lost in the colors of the Atlantide, the colors running into one another without frontiers. Fishes made of velvet, of organdie with lace fangs, made of spangled taffeta, of silks and feathers and whiskers, with lacquered flanks and rock...

Am officially now in treatment. The diagnosis: social phobia or anxiety (quite a high level) stemming from a fear of embarrassment or being judged. It's funny how you need someone to tell you what you sort of already knew. Anyway we'll see how it progresses from here.

VGHS Trailer - I stumbled across this fantastic web series today. The first ep is out.

As a gamer it really strikes a chord with me and I hope it continues to get better. Reminds me a bit of one of my favourite high school TV shows - 'Freaks and Geeks' - except about gamers.

I spent much of today hibernating in bed and just playing a few games - it's pretty cold outside and it's just the middle of Autumn here.

Been playing the beta of The Secret...

I love seeking off the beaten path for stories that move and resonate with my identity and these are more lesser well-known thoughtful treasures (that I've watched) for those who are also seekers (anime-fan or not):

1. Serial Experiments: Lain (sci-fi, philosophical)

2. Welcome to the NHK (realistic, slice of life)

3. Kino's Journey (philosophical, reflective)

4. Wolf's Rain (sad)

5. Summer Wars and The...
