today I went trespassing around my old high school. They are in the process of tearing it down, b/c the new one is all completed next door. But they haven't completely dismantled it yet, so.... I was just taking a quick walk around until I realized there's no fence blocking my entry in. to see a school that I love, in it's current battered and bruised state was shocking. and it was hurtful to see. I took a trip through the old bomb shelters, camera in hand, through the history wing. I went back outside and entered the main hallway. The whole place had been stripped of carpeting. most if not all the windows and medium sized holes in them. some of the windows had been boarded up. The libary was in shambles.
my old locker was completly destroyed. In the english wing the hallway walls curled and collapsed down the hall.
I can remeber the years I spent walking those halls, and now to see them like this, is unreal.

I snatched a poem off the wall, something someone had written. (I'll post it later)

chalkboards were gone. near the old library entrance a group of stray cats pawed by silently.
I saw the old bomb shelter tunnels, still intact and buried within the ground.

I took a picture of the House that I was assigned to--gone, just the Housemaster's office had one wall standing.

I got about 65 shots until a cop drove by me. I apologized for being back there, and he just sent me on my way. I had a camera inplain view, so it was obvious what I was doing. without the camera I would have looked like someone up to no good.

On a happier note:
Have you tried a Disaronno & Orange? I have, it was amazing wink
bigbuddha:
awww... frown at least you were able to get some pictures and the poem in itself sound like a good way to remember the old stomping grounds.

trixel:
your photos were lovely.

I can imagine that your trip to some place taken down by time which has vital memories to you would be disorienting to say the least.

I agree with you about darkness and the warmth. robot kiss
