I said something recently about "secrets and mysteries" to somebody at work. When asked "Is there a difference?", I gleefully replied: "Most certainly! Mysteries are wonders for you to ponder and share with everyone. A secret is a burden that must be carried alone." Man, I'd been waiting for awhile to whip that one out--in fact, I may have even subconsciously baited the dialogue--I'm really...

Well thanks . . .

Alan Moore scares me (in a good way). I haven't read the Swamp Thing books though, cause I am cheap and the library doesn't have them. Grrrrrrrr! I will have to get with the inter-library loan thing to rectify that situation.

Now I have a friend in Georgia! Whoooot!

Wanna teach me to fire-dance too?

I have a chain whip and you don't.
Wow, I just got my first chain whip yesterday; I spent half the day out in the freezing cold yesterday learning how to use this incredibly elegant and dangerous weapon. There was some pain involved--even with the end padded. I have always wanted to learn how to use a shaolin chain whip and this is just so...

I've been trained in chain fighting. It's fun as long as you don't mind getting damn well bruised before you get proficient at it. Yes I am a singer, but unfortunately we don't have anything commercially available yet. That'll change in a few months when our CD comes out though.

oh what oceans of sorrow i have! please help me, love me, define me!
wretched
sniveling
maggot
pathetically mewling for placation,
a stroke from one who is both master & slave
but what you really like is to suffer
to cut your feet on the razor's edge between enlightenment and ignorance
you've been fucked by life
and now you are gravid, ready to bear fruit...

My phone cord tastes like shit.
Liquid nitrogen is fun; whenever I freeze tissue samples I try and find something new to dip in the nitro so I can pull it out and shatter it against something--but I forgot today. There were all these freaking ants in the plant I butchered today that were annoying both in that they threatened to contaminate my samples and...

Thanks for the tips re: kecak. I've learned to be wary of those kinds of records without independent review, though- I had a roommate in college who constantly bought gamelan, koto, and shakuhachi records and would get all pissy when it turned out the insert was, like, two pages with no text. That's part of why the Nonesuch Explorer things are good- they have relevant discussion of the music in their inserts- but the reissues are getting a bit skimpy on text.

I've been planning to sit down and finally watch the 3 *-qaatsi movies at some point. Something makes me think they will resemble Chris Marker's Sans Soleil- have you ever seen that?

Finally got the pics from the Halloween party and put them up in my pics section here--you're welcome to go to www.circusugly.com and click the photo gallery link in the top right corner to see the whole set, if you wish. The first one is one of my kung fu pics but the others are all from the party. The fire staff pics came out...

Saw Estradasphere at the Earl Mon. night--so sad to see such a small crowd there with such a spectacular band playing. While they may not be to everyones' tastes, their musicianship is perfect and amazing to watch. It was a great set at any rate; at one point they played the theme from the Gummi Bears cartoon show, which cracked me up. Randy didn't make...

My first entry...Why would I keep a journal here? Perhaps a better question would be: Why do I pose questions to which I already know the answer? I think that I should trust my intuition more--it used to lead me astray when I was younger, but these days overthinking matters seems to be more of a problem.
This isn't going to be a soul-searching type...
