In 1931, somebody wrote down something in German. In English, it read: "To every w-consistent recursive class k of formulae there correspond recursive class-signs r, such that neither v Gen r nor Neg (v Gen r) belongs to Flg (k) (where v is the free variable of r)." (My thanks to Hofstadter; variables have been adapted).
A paraphrase...

Oops I am a dildo. I forgot to bring the pictures that I was supposed to scan to the lab yesterday. D'oh.
My dad called last night to tell me he's in Atlanta and wants to hang out--so I'm gonna go spend the next 2 nights at my cousin's place in Avondale. Back when he was younger, my cousin & I used to go do...

Sherlock is most definitely a basset! I found him outside of the animal clinic I work at one freezing morning in December, and he was only 3 lbs. and very sick. Now he is a 55 lb. spoiled brat! He's impossibly droopy and floppy-all good stuff in a dogsmile I'm so glad you got those pics up! They look great! Your kitties are damn cute, toosmile

Thanks for the word on Alex Grey! Super neato! At first his art is almost replusive, but the more you look at it and the more you read his writings, it transforms into something of incredible beauty. I love that juxtapostion. Amazing! My boy dug it so much that he is going to order Grey's book. We might even have to contribute to the chapel.

Well alrighty then! The SGATL party on Saturday was fun--everybody was really cool; I was kind of expecting there to be at least one complete tool present. I probably got the most fucked-up of anybody there, hmm I guess that's OK since I can still remember everything and don't recall acting like any more of a jackass than usual.
While I'm at work today I...

that's so funny!!! as i was reading that i could totally see you saying all of it... just sort of rambling on... i dunno- it fucking cracked me up... anyways.... teehee
what daniel13 fails to realize in his above comment is that i also use formaldehyde in my own job- we use it to put little dead animal parts in so we can send them to the lab (at UGA) or to the zoo (the herpetoligist is there)
or we put bunny testicles in them and i take them home smile
and i get to play with a centrifuge too - yay!! i think they're cool- we spin the blood in the to get serum counts and find the total solids in a sample...
it was super cool hangin out with you the other night- any time you are in atlanta, feel free to give a call or send an email our way... we'd love to hang out with you again!
and i'm definitely checking out the musical suggestions... headed shopping tomorrow for daniel (and maybe weds too if i dont finish!, so i'm lookin for fantomas too)
i'm gonna check for those sg party pics..... hahahaa
talk to you soon....
ooo aaa EL SUICIDO LOCO

OK--I bought a fucking drum kit. It's a 5-piece Tama Rockstar with Paiste 520 cymbals. This is so totally awesome.

Going to see Return of the King in about a hour.

Big party tonight at Jittery Joe's.

I have to give a presentation at work tomorrow afternoon about subtractive hybridization.

I think I'm gonna have to pull an all-nighter and go start on the presentation...

You know what I really like doing? Bringing a bunch of people over to my house and getting them all so fucked up they can barely comprehend what is going on. That way, they are so much more suggestive and I can hit them with all sorts of weird shit to fuck with their heads. Today is my buddy Greg's birthday and the ham-hock-sized bottle...

I put up pics from China...I was lucky enough to be able to visit there last summer as a guest of the Shaolin temples in Quangzhou and Putian. I forgot to put a panda bear shot up. Those guys are totally cute.

Boy am I whipped...literally and figuratively. The chain whip can split the skin open even with a centimeter of foam padding. I was...

I spent 8 months in university purifying DNA as a final project not that long ago, so any explanations of how sampling, purification, checking the sample and everything else required can be done in such a timeframe is appreciated as I could never get anywhere near such efficiency in a well equiped lab even if I'd had the powers of 'The Flash'...let alone in a mobile lab (presumably).

If, however, absolutely everything was set up perfectly before the sample was provided for purification then there'd be less of a problem...but that would raise even more questions...
wated:
Exactly, and that's unfortunately my problem with it...we're assuming perfect conditions if it's to be done in that time...

Thanks for the insight though, it's been a couple of years since I handled a spin column but you've been really helpful. Cheers. smile

I said something recently about "secrets and mysteries" to somebody at work. When asked "Is there a difference?", I gleefully replied: "Most certainly! Mysteries are wonders for you to ponder and share with everyone. A secret is a burden that must be carried alone." Man, I'd been waiting for awhile to whip that one out--in fact, I may have even subconsciously baited the dialogue--I'm really...

Well thanks . . .

Alan Moore scares me (in a good way). I haven't read the Swamp Thing books though, cause I am cheap and the library doesn't have them. Grrrrrrrr! I will have to get with the inter-library loan thing to rectify that situation.

Now I have a friend in Georgia! Whoooot!

Wanna teach me to fire-dance too?

I have a chain whip and you don't.
Wow, I just got my first chain whip yesterday; I spent half the day out in the freezing cold yesterday learning how to use this incredibly elegant and dangerous weapon. There was some pain involved--even with the end padded. I have always wanted to learn how to use a shaolin chain whip and this is just so...

I've been trained in chain fighting. It's fun as long as you don't mind getting damn well bruised before you get proficient at it. Yes I am a singer, but unfortunately we don't have anything commercially available yet. That'll change in a few months when our CD comes out though.

My phone cord tastes like shit.
Liquid nitrogen is fun; whenever I freeze tissue samples I try and find something new to dip in the nitro so I can pull it out and shatter it against something--but I forgot today. There were all these freaking ants in the plant I butchered today that were annoying both in that they threatened to contaminate my samples and...

Thanks for the tips re: kecak. I've learned to be wary of those kinds of records without independent review, though- I had a roommate in college who constantly bought gamelan, koto, and shakuhachi records and would get all pissy when it turned out the insert was, like, two pages with no text. That's part of why the Nonesuch Explorer things are good- they have relevant discussion of the music in their inserts- but the reissues are getting a bit skimpy on text.

I've been planning to sit down and finally watch the 3 *-qaatsi movies at some point. Something makes me think they will resemble Chris Marker's Sans Soleil- have you ever seen that?
