Barbeque honors 55th anniversary of Korean War

Anchorage, Alaska - The Korean community in Anchorage marked the 55th anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War today with a traditional barbeque.
They served up about 350 meals at the Brother Francis Shelter. Organizers say it's their way of giving back to show appreciation for the American soldiers who put their lives on the line during the Korean War.
The Korean community says they want the younger generation to understand what this gift of freedom means. The Koreans who lived through the war are now elders and many are gone.
My mother no longer is here; she's deceased. But she remembers how she was so happy and felt like (she) was saved when she saw a U.S. troop, said Yoh Yon Phar of the Korean American Coalition.
The Korean community is working on a float for the Fourth of July, and they are hoping they can find some soldiers who served during the Korean War to ride on it.
