Metal Nights - Part 3 of 3
End of the Metal Nights
Final track plays out.
There's just enough time
to knock back one more drink
and think to myself "well,
it was good
while it lasted".
It ended as it had to:
in spilled beer and cigarette ends,
with the doormen's silent encouragement
for us to drink up and be gone,
to be swallowed...

I know that sense of things ending. My friendships are often made with people who move around my social scene changes when people I like move away. It would be good to have that grounded sense that comes from a content stability.

Metal Nights 2 of 3
After Metal Night #11
After 11 months of waiting and what-ifs and maybes,
11 months of knowing you and not knowing you,
of missing someone not mine to miss,
of careful avoidance and skilled restraint,
in a borrowed spare room,
under circumstances we had not planned,
the pretence stopped,
and the clothes came off.
Our bodies' starved response
- after...

I loved your poem
It's funny that the minibar line in your profile says "likes 12 Angry Men". I just watched the original with Henry Fonda two days ago
I actually haven't checked out your set yet, but I promise to do that in the very near future.

I'm sure we could get 12 angry men together for you
Great poem - and that shot's great - love the angle, and women musicians are way sexy.

Metal Night [A Poem]
You step in,
past the black-coated bouncers,
and out of the rain
that beads on your leather jacket,
spills through your hair
onto pale skin.
I want to taste the rain on your lips,
but I don't want you to know that.
Instead I play it cool
(I think),
pretend I didn't notice you walk in,
pretend I haven't missed you...

Hey, thanks for accepting my friend request. You're just so interesting. That poem is really good. I especially like the verse:
"Two cigarettes in my mouth.
I light them both,
pass one to you:
the nearest I'll get to kissing you tonight."
Awesome.

Yummy Yum Yum!!!
A reminder what summers in this country used to be like...
the smell of spoilt fruit and veg after the market's cleared away;
sweat-stained vests, scorched lawns, sunburnt shoulders;
hosepipe bans [even though the river burst its banks in May and flooded the town];
punch-ups, anti-clamactic, on sweating pavements outside pubs at kicking-out time;
baked air on empty buses winding through quiet, odd-named villages;
the...

that was actually an amazing blog!!

tiggie:
My friend and I were discussing that the other day. But not as beautifully phrased.
Isn't it supposed to be summer? The sky out the window is gunmetal grey, and spiteful rain keeps putting out my cigarette every time I step outside to have a smoke. At least with the smoking ban in pubs having come into action 4 days ago, I know I'm not alone, that there are other pissed off smokers stood about in beer gardens getting soggy....

Yeah, it does seem to be raining too much, but look on the bright side; at least there's no hosepipe ban.
No, you're right; there is no bright side.
Worth a try though.

I like your back pieces
The Devil rides into town on a black chopped motorcycle, handle-bars up high (hard to control, but stylish as hell). He blazes across the track with dust flying out behind him, like a low-flying black comet, like a bad omen. Head down against the grit in the air, eyes hidden behind dark lenses in designer frames. Leathers crack in the desert wind like bull-whips. The...

Cool devil.
How come the devil always gets to be cool?
I could imagine this as a graphic novel style deal quite easily.
As to the other poem- the similies worked very well; it's always a good tactic to face things off against each other in that way and creates a good sense of internal conflict.
It's a shame the christian church often isolates itself from sectors of society which would have no problem with it if it just modernised a bit and looked at the world around it.
This practice gives over religions a bad name. Which is a shame

Sacred Heart
They wanted me on my knees,
but it was you I knelt for.
They offered me the body of Christ,
but instead I wanted yours,
finding that it sated and sanctified me more.
They told me about the One True Love,
and I thought I'd found it,
but it wasn't the one they meant.
They taught me of His suffering on the cross,...

I do miss that paper for all its small town bigotry and sensationalism, always put a smile on my face at the stupidness of it all

that's ok, this place makes no sense in terms of usability, just wait until they decide to change something in a couple of weeks... best to keep an eye on the Everything SG board as that's where they post about changes. Its also the place to go and bitch and moan about the changes
