I had one of the most intimate non sexual nights ever this week. She was an old friend. Her mother had recently died and she was in town to say goodbye to her with her extended family. She needed a friend. I had been her go to over 8 years ago. Someone who was always there for her and this was absolutely no different. We had a connection then and picked up exactly where we left off. Our timing was never right and this time was no exception. I can't sleep with a woman who has a man, its not my style and she knew that. Her boyfriend was on base and unavailable for contact of any kind while she was here. I picked her up as soon as she called me, you could hear it in her voice she needed a man to talk to. Her extended family was driving her insane. She needed the space. I brought her to my place and we laid in bed, joking, crying, listening to each other, but mostly me listening and offering a different perspective then she could see. I am not typically a full blown cuddler but I couldn't let her go, she was vulnerable and needed that security that night. I gave her that. All night, burrowed into each other. It was the first night in 3 weeks she had slept more than 3 hours and I was happy to give her what she needed. She will always be one of my dearest friends and I hers.
