Ok, so some guy went totally apeshit on me last night at work... lemme explain here:
So, for a single person to go the library food court and clean it up it takes about 2 hours. I have 3 hours to do such. When we have 2 people go up, we can have one person restore an area while the other person cleans the food courts. Restoring an area takes 1 person about 1 and 1/2 - 2 hours, which is why it's not only impossible for 1 person to both restore an area and clean the rest of the court... it's FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE in 3 hours. We've been sorta shorthanded around the IMU lately with people taking vacations and being sick and all, so this week it's been me going solo up there. Now that you know that, you need to know this. There's like a manager who works for Sodexho (the part of Mariott that runs the catering and staffs the food services @ IMU, etc.) and he's this dweeby guy called Mark. He seemed pretty cool from the past weeks I've been cleaning there, but all you really need to know is that he's like the manager of the library food court. Anyway, i'm there doing my thing and kicking ass and he basically throws a hairy and looses his shit all over me. He's all like, "Are you restoring tonight?" and I was like "No, not when i'm the only person here." He goes apeshit and starts telling me how "us Union" custodians only do half the shit we're supposed to do. Yelling at me about how he moved all these chairs for nothing, yelling at me about all this shit that i have NO CONTROL of. So, all I can basically say is, "I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do about this." and try to explain to him the concept of trying to fit 5 hours of work for 1 person into 3 hours. He tells me "You guys always say that, 'We don't have enough time! We don't have enough time!l" I was thinking of saying, "Look here, fucko. My boss just sent me up here to clean the food court and not take shit from you. There's no fucking way I'm gonna fit 5 hours of shit into 3 hours. PS Moving 10-12 pound chairs is motherfucking child's play compared to fucking around with 40-50 pound tables on a little piece of shit garbage roller dealie!"
I didn't say that. I wanted to, but I didn't know if I would get in trouble for starting a fight or something. I'm a noob.
Anyway, about 5 min later he simmers down and apologizes profusely, citing the really sucky week he's been having. He leaves in a huff and doesn't bother finish putting some chairs on tables. So as i get around to them with my mop, i fuck with em and put em up where they should go. Wondering who lit the fuse on his tampon, I get back to the Union and talk to Diane about it, she's not my boss, but she's been doing the library for like 10 years. She was like, "Yeah he really shouldn't have done that. I'm gonna leave a message for Brenda (My boss, proper) to talk to his boss about it. Don't you worry about a thing, this isn't the first time he's done this." I also find out that he's been told in the past when we weren't gonna restore floors so he doesn't have to move chairs and he's either not gotten the chairs moved when we were, or moved the chairs when we weren't, so we just left it that we always would, so the damn chairs would be moved all the time.
So that's that.
