I am continuing the sheet rant from the other day. (Go back to my last blog if you are catching up).

Porphyria and some others brought up some interesting counter points to the "weekly sheet changing" ideal. I love playing devil's advocate so even though their argument counters my own bi-weekly sheet changing habit, I will still bring this up because, honestly, it made me think twice as to how often it really is necessary to change sheets.

(this argument excludes people who have dogs or other pets sleeping in the bed with them, those who sleep nude, those who sweat heavily, and those who eat/lounge in bed during waking hours)

Some of the weekly sheet changers were comparing sheets to clothes. BUT! The more infrequent sheet changers countered with the fact that sheets are not really like clothes since most people wear clothes/PJs to bed. So actually. sheets are more like a winter coat. When I think about it, I think I spend more hours in, sweat in, and eat in my winter coat a lot more than I do in my bed!
So those of you who change your sheets every week......

How often do you take your winter coat to the cleaners???

I have to admit, I may only take my winter coats to the cleaners once or twice a year during the cold months. So here I am worrying about dirt, skin cells, and oils on my bed sheets when I've completely overlooked the fact that I am donning a layer fabric every single chilly day that most likely has more dirt and germs than my sheets ever collect.
So really, unless you are cleaning your coats as often as you do your sheets...your efforts for fabric cleanliness are basically foiled each time you put on your coat.
Now...after considering this fact, I don't think I am going to change my bi-weekly sheet changing habit....I am too used to my routine. However, if I got behind or forgot about the sheets one week, perhaps I won't get so bent out of shape.
Thoughts please???

I swear, by the end of this, I'm gonna end up with an OCD! tongue In lieu of buying a new one, I only take my winter coat to the cleaners once a season. At the end of winter, of course, before I hang it in the closet and then the following seasons to ward off mildew and mold while not being worn.

The lack of needing a winter coat here pretty much invalidates any kind of laundering necessity on my behalf, but considering it was 93 damn degrees today will definately enforce my weekly sheet washing. If you wind up skipping a week, no harm, no foul wink
