I just saw a preview for an American remake of Takashi Miike's One Missed Call.
*stabs eye out with ball point pen*

Is no decent Japanese horror film safe? Must they all fall into the clutches of idiot American film directors who rape the films of their overall "feel" and fill in the gaps with Hollywood no-names and cheesy music scores???

Besides....I think maybe they are missing the whole point of Miike's film....
One Missed Call is a great horror film and it can certainly stand on its own as such....but going a bit deeper, it was Miike's way of sort of poking fun at the whole "contagious killing" theme that Asian directors were just gobbling up and spitting out in recent years. (Ringu and Ju-on being most prominent) Many Miike fans have always interpreted One Missed Call to be more parody then a serious horror film.

So therefore, it just seems silly and ironic to me that they would make a re-make a movie that makes fun of the fact that they keep regurgitating the same old ideas.

Hmmm...
