I was rather pleased with the movie as a whole. I thought I would hate the fact that they changed Galactus so much. But after seeing the movie...I kind of liked Galactus as a cloud o' doom. I know, I know, their choice to make him a giant cloud has caused some major up-roar on the Marvel boards...but you know what? The Marvel boards aren't working right this minute and we are on MY blog now and here, my word is law. After all, to have a giant man floating out in space would have been cheesy...even for a Marvel movie. And with Galactus's typical choice of costume, it would have been a LOT of friggin pink for one movie.
Now I'm going to offer up some complaints...cause my geekiness depends on my ability to criticize comic-based movies....
- I would have liked to see more fight scenes with Silver Surfer. They really only touched the surface of his abilities.
- Getting into Silver Surfer's back story was unnecessary and too short lived. He only mentions his reasons for serving Galactus in a very brief conversation with Alba but I don't think the movie really conveyed to the audience the difficulty and hardship that made him choose that path. Which brings me to my next complaint....
- Way too little Silver Surfer!!!! They took an awesome character and summed up his life in like 5 minutes only to chew him up and spit him out at the end! They should have spent less time developing the Fantastic Fours' "family" feelings (we know already!) and MORE time developing a intriguing character who is both noble and emotionally torn.
- Alba sucks as an actress and yet she gets the most screen time. Michael Chiklis is by far the best actor and gets the least amount!! I would like to see more of Ben's personality come out in the movies. They make him out to be a sulking brute. I think even maybe a Aunt Petunia reference would have made fans smile.
- the Fantasticar was a Dodge *groan*
- Stan Lee made an appearance as himself after playing the role of Willie Lumpkin in the last movie! And no, we didn't forget!

I hope they do more with Silver Surfer in the future. Perhaps an "Infinity Gauntlet" movie??? tee hee!!!
No...but seriously....they should do a crossover. I think movie fans should know that the 616 universe characters actually interact with each other. The movies make it seem like they all are on a separate plane of existence; they should have some Avengers or someone pop in every now and then. And if they REALLY wanted to make the movies true to the comics...

they would have Wolverine in every movie!!!!

1) DEATH IN THE FAMILY
A member of Rogue's team falls in the line of duty!

3. Emma Frost (we all know she has been up to something in Astonishing!)
4. Rogue (maybe, don't know if Carey would let her get her ass kicked, he has such a hard-on for her)
6. Lady Mastermind
7. Malice claims Emma
8. Iceman and Mystique
9. Cyclops (cause that would be funny!)
10. good lord it better not be Gambit but I think it is.

I just hope to god they have a good explanation as to why Gambit is back to normal now. Not that I liked him as Death....not in the least! But I hate inconsistencies in storylines even more then I hate bad character decisions. If Marvel insists on changing writers every few issues, then they should at least make them pick up from where the last writer left off. Lately, they seem to let them all just start from scratch and make up whatever bullshit suits them at the time.
I think the cleverest way to write Gambit back to normal is to make him a clone After all, Sinister keeps clones of all the Marauders and it isn't like he doesn't have access to Gambit's genetic material. He had kept a piece of Gambit's brain in his lab for years!! Sooooo...although I think the Gambit lovers won't be too happy, I think it would make for an interesting plot and make quite a bit more sense then just having him show up in 200 as the normal Gambit.
(and yes, I realize I am, in fact, a Gambit lover. But I love comics as a whole enough that I would rather see good, intelligent writing rather then have my fave character cheat his way back to normal)
Besides, it would explain his sudden loyalty to Mr. Sinister. Since Sinister fits his clones with the genetic imprint to want to serve him. So there you go.
Hmmmm.....I should be writing X-Men.
