I've been playing Sims 2 like crazy lately. I get so addicted to the Sims games...but oddly enough, only for a short while. I get all obsessed with creating families and building homes and designing the whole neighborhood...then I play with it a bit...and then I'm done with it.
I think it is because the game can get a bit frustrating at times. Those of you who have played it know what I'm talking about: Those stupid, little annoying Sim-things that happen throughout game play.
Like:
- the bastards never seem to like anything you buy for them. You put in a new object and they go over to it and shake their head in disapproval! Even after I spent $8000 on a TV!
- the way they will take the longest possible route to a room three feet away!
- when they go out for the paper or mail and bring it in the house, they put it on the floor even when there is an empty table nearby.
- their refusal to get out of the hot tub during a thunder storm and then they act surprised when they are struck by lightning.
- a level two cooking skill Sim can make lobster with no problems....and then a level 8 skilled Sim sets the place on fire making poptarts!
- having to chase the pizza delivery guy all around the yard to pay for the food
- when teen Sims put their homework in weird places that I can't see and I have to spend 15 minutes searching the house for their school books!
- when it says "So-and-so has brought a friend home from work/school today" and you gotta entertain this person even when they aren't -actually- a friend of the family. It should say "So-and-so brought a complete stranger back from work/school today".
- when they are done feeding their babies, they just put the bottle on the floor
- that you can't visit the house of another Sim but -they- can come over to your house, pee on your floor, leave dishes everywhere, and keep you up at night!
- I HATE when lightning strikes one of my trees and it catches on fire...soooo I call the fire company and, of course, the damn thing goes out on its own. And then the fireman gets there and yells at me for calling when there was no fire....even though there -was- one.
- the Sim flu and it's ability to spread like plague. Some random neighborhood bimbo was sick and visited my Sims without being invited and infected the entire household!
- you give them a swingset and they will never want to STOP SWINGING! Especially annoying when house guests get on there and swing for like 2 hours straight while your Sim stands idly by, waiting to tell them to go home.
- group meals only serve 6 but the maximum household number is 8. ????
- the way that cheating Sims always seem to get caught...even when their spouse is asleep or outside!
- the Nanny does nothing! I pay that old bag to watch my kids and she nearly lets one of them get kidnapped!
- spontaneous Sim combustion. I had no idea that Seasons EP had this feature until it was already too late for poor Bernard.
- having to run the game with 34374454757 hacks at all times just to make it halfway playable.
And the number one thing I hate about Sims 2:
AGING! erg....so annoying. They live for what? 30 days or so? They should have an actual game setting option to turn off aging. How hard would that have been? But no...the only way to turn it off is to type in the hack code EVERY single time you enter a new house. ERG!
