ERG!!!! I hate my server host!!!!!

No mom-mom, you are wrong. I HATE my hosting company!!!
I have been hosting www.squeakmachine.com over at webhostingbuzz.com for two years now. And I have had nothing but problems from that company. Constant downtime...not telling me when my renewal is past due...no live tech support!! The list could go on and on and on.
Please...I know some of you on here have got to be more fluent in the ways of web hosting than I am.
What companies are good??

If you switch over to a new host, does it affect your e-mail??? Can you just use the same e-mail address but on a different server?? Will my old e-mails be in there or will it empty out my inbox?
Anything else I should look out for or keep in mind?
