Well, I am back from my week in hell. Sorry, Wales. (Nothing against the Welsh, just the hotel I was staying in was a dump.)
I was stopped again at the border, by the border guards. The last time it was for trying to smuggle restricted flora and fauna across the border from Scotland . This time it was for trying to smuggle more restricted flora and fauna along with a case of Moonshine. (IRN BRU).
I was detained for over 6 hours by the customs officials, and the immigration department also told me I had not filled out my Visa application properly. This held me back even longer, while an official from the Scottish Embassy had to drive from Carlisle to meet me.
Along with everything else, I had also forgotten to convert my currency from Scottish Sterling into English Sterling. In the end I opted for travellers cheques.
Anyhoo, I think when I go back down on Monday night I will just have to bite the bullet and buy fruit and beverages approved by the Governments of the countries I pass through.
So how have we been in my absence? I don't have time tonight to reply to everybodys updates, so I will have to do that tomorrow. I have a hot date with a old drink in a dark and dingy pub.
