It's the most, nerdiest time of the year!

And do you know why, my friends?

Because it is CONVENTION SEASON!!

Particularly, San Diego Comic Con, the only Comic Con you should be attending! Sure, there's Long Beach Comic Con, there's Emerald City Comic Con, there's bum-fuck wherever Comic Con but SDCC is the biggun'. This is where the biggest movies are discussed, trailers debuted, stars come out, crazy shit happens here. This is the first convention I ever attended at 14 years old. I came to see a panel for my favorite comic book creator, Jhonen Vasquez. This man's comic book, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, is what drew me into the world of comic books when I was a weird, angsty teenager.

On the right is Roman Dirge, creator of Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl, which I would go on to dress up as a following year.

Funny story, my best friend was supposed to make this dress weeks in advance, when I gave her the fabric. She didn't so like the bitch slave-driver I am, I made my friend stay up awake ALL NIGHT to finish the dress for me. In my defense, I stayed up with her and we both suffered the next day. However, it was totally worth it since the creator dug it.

I've gone several years since then but they make it harder and harder each and every year to obtain tickets for those who haven't attended consecutively.

Don't judge the hair. Every year I go, I make a point to take a photo with Jhonen Vasquez. Thank god he doesn't realize I am stalking the man. His work is published with Slave Labor Graphics and they always have a good sized booth.

This year of SDCC, I had just gotten over a very bad kidney infection. No way that shit was going to stop me from going!

Ewoks of a feather, flock together.

Due to the nature of obtaining tickets, the last few years, I've had to relay on the kindness of strangers to get in.

Then, in 2014 I started working at a video game production company doing QA. The first year, I volunteered to work the both (outside the con) in exchange for borrowing a pass for the rest of the day. The company I worked for was working on Adventure Time: Secrets of the Nameless Kingdom.

Obligatory with J.V. and obligatory dumb face by me.

We got a to shake hands with the amazing gents who created and voiced the Venture Brothers and yes, my husband and I are wearing freakin' matching t-shirts. That's how we roll.

They signed my sexy 6" Brock who lives up on my shelf.

At work, I quickly became the expert (and only) QA person who was working on Falling Skies the game. That was when I got invited to go to the GameStop convention to test and be interviewed for the game.

INCOMING: THE MOST EMBARASSING VIDEO CLIP OF ME!

This is evidence that I truly have resting bitch face. I was SO nervous to speak (I'm not sure if I do since I refuse to watch this video with the audio up loud) but I was driving the game and the A.P. was the one doing the talking.

Well, this embarrassing and timeless clip has become my entrance into SDCC with professional trade passes! Yes, I submitted this horrible video and the powers that be thought, "yelp! better give this poor lass entrance into this convention". This year will be the first year in many years that I will have a SDCC badge with my name on it and I am rather excited! My husband and I are attending the first 2.5 days and it's been a big summer event we've been looking forward to.

The energy is great, the people watching is great, it's such a overwhelming and wonderful experience. You can come dressed as silly or nerdy or weird as you like and no one bats at an eye. People are all there to just have fun and geek out. That's why San Diego Comic Con is my most favorite festival (or event) of all.

SDCC 16 thread is the thread going on right now for all those attending. There's a lot of meetups being planned by SGs, Hopefuls, and Members alike. Also, there are many people who are going to the Burlesque show as well during that weekend who might not be attending the con but want to gather. The great thing about SDCC is that it literally takes over the Gaslamp District so while maybe you couldn't get passes, doesn't mean you can't have a fun time, snag some swag, and let your nerd flag fly.

I can't wait, 19 more days! I hope to see some of the SG community there!

Lucky girl 👍🏻 I believe there's a London comic con that my youngest son may have attended last year (as a responsible father I should know these things but I'm obviously not) swiftly moving on thanks for the epic blog and pictures, hope you're having a great weekend 😘
