Blog Homework: Define "met"

This week's @bloghomework from @missy, @rambo, and @lyxzen is to share stories of any celebrity encounters we might have had. I live in Southern California, they are all over the place right?!

Actually, I have "encountered" a number of famous(y) people. Now, I say encounter; similar to how someone encounters a predator on the Savannah, watching it from afar but in too much awe to actually approach it, let alone ask it silly questions.

Example: I went to a movie screening for My Name is Bruce, starring none other than the legend himself, Bruce Campbell. Well this screening was even more special because Mr. Campbell was there in the flesh to do a Q&A after the show. I was too fucking scared to think of a question to ask and I left the theater rather dejected, until I thought up a good question to ask on the car ride home. Drats! Never again will I see the man in person.

I am actually horribly shy in real life. I get easily nervous and clam up around new people so just being in the presence of someone I admire is enough to make me terrified (and happy).

So anywho, famous people I have seen while living in Southern California:

Kobe Bryant would come early in the morning to one of the malls I used to work at and would just hang out in the food court area before people would start arriving.

I made a Soy Chai once for Steve-O from Jackass

I served one of the Real Housewives of Orange County a few times. Both she and her family are just as horrible as they seem on t.v.

I have taken hilariously bad photos with Jerry Only from the Misfits not once, but twice!

Somehow, only Jerry's face was melting.

I got so very drunk at this show and I am really proud of this photo

Back in January, @roz and I were invited to a season wrap party for the show Workaholics and we coerced one of the guys, Blake Anderson, into taking a very silly picture with us.

Also, Adam Devine, another star of the show, stays at my hotel on an occasional basis. I won't say too much but I really wouldn't care if he stopped coming. We'll leave it at that.

Here are the crown jewels in my "famous" collection. These people are important and famous to me. Both of these guys are comic book artists who have made work that has left a huge impact to me. The first is Roman Dirge, creator of Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl. He's been pretty laid back the few times I have seen him at SDCC. One year, I even dressed up as Lenore.

My frequent "stalkee" is comic book artist, Jhonen Vasquez. He created Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, the cartoon show Invader Zim and several other comic book works. I don't think I would be quite the person I am today without his warped sense of humor and outlook on life.

The first time I saw Jhonen Vasquez was at the first San Diego Comic Con I attended when I was 14, in 2004. It was the 10th anniversary for JTHM and he was doing a panel for it.

(I just realized my old photos are lost into the internet void. All I have left is the crap from my personal Facebook)

So this was 2004, hence the really bad photo quality. Also, I made a horrible face while taking a photo with Roman Dirge (left) so I expertly covered my face with a bad ass Storm Trooper. There is me with Jhonen on the right. Yes, I was excited to see I promise you.

Me with Jhonen in maaaaybe 2008? Again, excited to see him, I just had a hard time smiling. And yes, I did intentionally make my hair fucking ridiculous.

Last year's SDCC, 2014. Look! I look more normal and I can somewhat emote! Plus, Jhonen looks mildly okay with taking a photo with a fan.

Oh! How could I forget. At last year's Comic Con, I also got a quick meet-and-greet with the creators and some of the voice actors from Venture Brothers. They were really cool; funny, friendly, made little quips.

I think Doc Hammer (far right) is one sexy beast so being in such proximity made me look ridiculous. There was no competing; I would have submitted on the spot.

So there you have my gallery! Like I said, I mostly gazed upon these people. "Meet" is too strong of a word but more importantly, I grabbed photos so no one can call me a liar!!

Who would you consider famous and have met before? Who would you like to meet?

I would've died if I'd got to meet Bruce Campbell! So cool that he was there :)
