I was just in DC for the anti-war protest this weekend; it was my first protest and a truly amazing experience, although several aspects of it made me angry (i.e. little media coverage, dilution of the message with other issues...). But the real point is that I managed to have a totally random sexual encounter with someone I met once or twice in college in pdx, who happens to live in DC now (he's from Arizona). So weird that we ended up in the same bed 3000 miles away from our common ground, in a city neither of us is from, after meeting at some random bar during a 500,000 person protest. Weird. But fun!
On another note, i am returning to pdx tomorrow, and I plan to take the next few weeks to really explore and enjoy the city in a way I never have before. Now that I am suddenly single again, I feel like I can sort of start a new chapter in my life, beginning by adventures in pdx, where I haver lived, on and off, for 5 years, but never really got too deeply into... I am excited. Somehow it's liberating and joyful to make aq plan to do something new, to try to make myself a more fulfilled and aware person...
