Selfies ain't normally my style, god the word kinda gives me shivers, but I figured what the hell:
Been working out a lot this year on something of an exercise-fad binge. Did P90X, then Insanity kinda for the fuck of it. It's a little hard to take them seriously (especially with the names), generally in the face of mainstream trends I tend to run in the opposite direction, but can't argue that they're a damn good workout.
I mean honestly if you're going to work out 6 days a week and eat right of course you're going to get into shape, but it helps to have a routine to follow along and a schedule that clearly lays it out for you.
I can't tell you how hard it was not to laugh during the like, 13th viewing of the same damn video, but at the same time when you know you've got a set amount of time and a certain amount of reps to hit, it's surprisingly motivating. I'm a fairly motivated and strong willed fella, but there's only so far you can push yourself, having an outside force (even if it's a pre-recorded one) can be really helpful at keeping you moving.
Exercise in general is kind of a necessity for me, I just don't feel right unless I get a minimum of physical activity into my day. This is especially true because about 90% of my day is spent behind a computer.
Not just physically do I feel better but mentally as well... sounds corny and cliche to say it that well, but there's a rather large therapeutic/meditative side to exercise that I have difficulty functioning without.
When you're fully into a good workout, it takes your mind off everything else. Helps you push aside all the other shit that's going on in your life and be in the moment, something that's honestly quite rare for me.
So anyhoo, there you have it, me bare chested in front of the mirror, because no dude on the internet has ever done that before.
