Hello everyone, I'm back smile

I've been in Calpe, Spain. It's near Benidorm but luckily this town didn't 'have any Diamond Geezers from Hackney or Guidos from... wherever they're from wink Luckily as it was out of high season there was barely anyone there but us. Yay!

The Story:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

In the early summer of 2009, myself and five friends set off on a luxurious holiday to Calpe in Spain. Plenty of sun, sand and swimming pools. Thank God we got out of grey, deary old England. Bring on the dry soil and blistering heat. Goodbye rain, hello blue sky! We had been waiting for this week-long holiday for three months.

After our exciting, Trivial Pursuit and Diamond Geezer based flight we finally arrived at Alicante Airport. We got into out specially arranged taxi and drove north east for the best part of an hour around the peninsulas - it was beautiful spare this horrendous place called Benidorm. Jesus, this monstrosity of a city is were our beloved plane Diamond Geezers were bound. How relieved I was when I found that out. I'd never see them again!

Once we passed that 'holiday destination' (eurgh!) we came upon Calpe, our town. The taxi driver took us to La Calalga Apartmentos, rather than our villa. I tried to explain that we were staying in a villa, not an apartment. He didn't speak much English but after a few panicky phone calls and emails we arrived at our place of residence. Later on I learnt that I was the only one in the group who didn't think the whole thing was a scam - it never even crossed my mind - but my friends were secretly in a mental state! Haha!

A lot of time was spent wondering down to the sea and back, chilling out, eating ice cream. Helado. One ice cream, one flavour, one euro. We loved padling about in the sea with the added thrill of the danger of getting our shorts and skirts wet!

Aside from sunbathing and reading, our favourite thing to do was go swimming. Oh lord, did we love swimming! Morning, midday, afternoon, evening, evening, night. Ah! And anoher amazing thing to do: jump crazily in to the pool. The weirder the jump, the better.

The week continued as such. Lazing about, doing not much, having fun. So naturally, there was a night when we all stayed in and had a drink. Or three. A video exists of my ramblings of drunken reasoning, but I shall not bore you with that cringeworthy experience. But of [i}course we went swimming and it was so fun and free (if you know what I mean). Yes!

On Wednesday afternoon we all waked along the beach eating our helado when Kimberley, Katherine, Florence and I decided to climb Peon de Ifach. It was swelteringly hot, there was a barely existant breeze and at 382m above sea level it certainly was a challenge. Armed with several bottles of water we began the ascent. What a booming place for wildlife! And by that I mean seagulls.

Seagulls are everywhere! Beware, as they might be just so friendly as to squeeze out a little treat for your head.

Unfortunately, Friday came around far too quickly and it was time for us to pack and leave. We will miss the villa - in fact, I already do - as we will miss the sun, the heat and perhaps even the non air-conditioned rooms. The tiny kitchen. The pink bathroom. The giant leather sofas. The pool. And so we all piled into the taxi to return back to London.

Photo overload:

Getting on the plane at Gatwick, l-r Kimberley, Dee, Kat, Flo, Lydia:

Our villaaaaaa.... Casa del Mar! House by the sea!

Me and Dee by the sea (it rhymes!)

...Nuts in the pool:

Our view from the villa:

Then we climbed up Peon de Ifach. It was so pretty. My friend Flo and I were pointing out all the geographical features to eachother, we love geography <3

To get to the top you need to go through this awesome tunnel. Look out for Shelob the spider!!

When you come through the tunnel, suddenly the type of rock becomes incredibly slippery. Here's Kimberley being a rebelious badass wink

More fun:

And here I am all sunburnt tanned and stuff on our last night:

BOKEH!!

I hate myself for the fact I didn't put the videos in order, but ah well! smile It was lovely and I want to go back!!

In other news, check dis shiz out!

  • I bought a typewriter so I can start writing. I've just started writing my first novel (I think) that's set in 1971 in south-west USA. Think Fear and Loathing, Big Sur and On the Road mixed together.
  • I'm still practising my photography, now I have my new lens it is making me very happy.
  • I've started waking up about 2 hours before I go to work so I can chill out in the morning and read my book.
  • I'm illustrating a chilldren's book for an author, and she's just gone on holiday for 5 weeks so I have a chance to chill out a bit.
  • I'm photoshopping a few sets for SG. This is hard work but I want to get them done as soon as possible. Weeoo!

Yes. Good to see you all again. I will respond to PMs as soon as possible, I have a lot of things to do. Gah!

Smell you later,

Snowy
