Things are hopping at the Plissken home brewery. First I drew a sample from my robust porter I brewed three weeks ago last Friday. It measured out at around 1.014 points gravity down from an original gravity of 1.056. That makes for an alcohol by volume of around 5.6% and an attenuation of around 75%. Good numbers all around. This is my first truly all grain beer and I must say my initial impressions are such that I never want to make another extract beer again. Aroma is soooo much better than with extract. Even without carbonation the grain aroma smacks you in the face. I can't really even describe it other than to just say it's both strong and very fresh. Like home made bread versus store-bought. I can't wait to get in a bottle so I think I probably will this week.

Also, I increased my capacity yet again with the purchase of another fermenter. So that makes four eight gallon plastic buckets, one six gallon glass carboy, and one five gallon glass carboy making for a forty-three gallon capacity. That's about three and a half gallons short of a one and a half barrel capacity. So if I used the hell out of it I could realistically produce around forty gallons of finished beer a month. Which works out to four hundred and eighty gallons a year, or around fifteen and a half barrels a year.

Booya.

The local McMenamins is taking on internships, so I may apply for the winter break. That'd be fun and educational and whatnot. Also a good chance to steal borrow obtain some of their house strain.
