After twenty minutes of listening to my coffee maker percolate, hum, roar, sputter, and gargle, I realized that I had not placed the lid which filters the water down. Effectively, the water was percolating unto itself (to the tune of losing 1/3rd of the total volume of water initially placed in the contraption).

I highly recommend cehcking out "Capturing the Friedmans" if any of you get the opportunity. It's a great documentary on a family who goes through the husband and a son being charged with pedophilia. An extremely good watch indeed.
