PATHETIC
I posted a story to the news section earlier today about the NASA X-43A scramjet achieving Mach 7. This is glorious news to me; however, a number of people didn't think so.
Now, I am a firm believer of people being entitled to their opinions, as anyone who knows me can testify to. The following, however, I cannot tolerate:

wow! ok what the hell do we need a plane, sorry jet, that goes that fast for anyways. give me break. i can't get a decent raise and they are busy trying to break the speed record. we could honestly use that money to make the people of america alot happier.
Upon reading this, my anus began to bleed. A part of me said: "perhaps he is joking."
At that point, I noticed the tasteless use of an emoticon and decided he was not. With that in mind, I formulated the following non-detail oriented response to the ABSOLUTE FUCKING GARBAGE this individual wrote:

Wow. That's the most retarded statement I've seen on this site. I really, REALLY hope you're being facetious; if not, please read the following:
While we're at it, let's not bother researching cures for communicable diseases, as the money spent there could be put into my pocket so I can eventually purchase a Hummer 2. Let's also stop development on microprocessors, lasers, spaceflight, the internet, hydrogen fuel cells, research pertaining to geologic studies of the earth's magnetic field, greenhouse gases and their effects upon the ozone, declining animal populations, and virtually anything that might actually contribute to the advancement of science and the greater good of humanity. After all, what more could I possibly need than an expensive car, more food to gorge myself on, a two story house, and an ignorant and unexciting environment to raise my future kids in?
By the way, the intent of the mission was not to break any speed records - it was to prove the concept for an engine that promises cheaper, faster, and more reliable transportation through our atmosphere at a cost that has the potential to be much lower than the current dollar-to-weight ratio for air/space transport. There are, of course, the obvious military uses for the technology; those are covered elsewhere in the replies.

Whether or not this individual is a prankster is irrelevant - the real problem is that a good number of half-wits, dumbbells, and morons share this exact sentiment, which is the real reason why I felt the need to formulate a condescending, snide reply.
If anyone reading this shares the above sentiment: never talk to me. EVER. I will (assuming I meet you):
1.) throttle you.
2.) piss in your butt.
3.) throw you in the pillory.
4.) lacerate you with dull knives.
5.) rub the foulest of fecal matter from any living creature into your leaking, drippy, pus-filled wounds
6.) watch you writhe in glee.
7.) piss in your butt. again.
It's been an UTTERLY FUCKING FANTASTIC day.
