I just learned that since 1876 the linguististics department at Lake Superior State University compiles a yearly list of "banished words and phrases" which is a list of words and phrases that they deem inaccurate, overused over the past year or in general, trite, is an unnecesary euphemism, or is generally useless.
This years list:

Place Stamp Here
Companion Animals (a term for pets)
Bling-Bling
X (as in Xtreme, X-Box, Windows XP)
LOL
Embedded Journalist
Smoking Gun
Shock and Awe
Captured Alive
Shots Rang Out
Sweat Like a Pig (because pigs don't sweat)

Hand-Crafted Latte
Sanitary Landfill (a term for dumps)

All I gotta say is good looks on banishing paradigm. I don't trust anybody that uses that word. I think The Simspons even took a cheep shot at that word in the Poochie episode.
