ouch...I do hate car repairs (I got hit for about $300 once....a hose in my radiator cracked, mixing antifreeze with transmission fluid. I had to pay for an engine flush and a transmission flush)....then about 6 months later I had to pay for a transmission overhaul (thankfully under warranty, but with a $100 deductible).
