This is the last email I wrote:

Dear FexEx,

You delivered my package in a timely manner, only I have no idea to whom you
delivered it to.

The fact that the person who signed for it was named "FLEE" should be a warning
sign to your drivers, especially considering that the package was addressed to
"Nate Trip." How the hell there was confusion about...

This reminds me of the nightmare that I spent tracking down lost packages for an online sports retailer. We had just switched to FedEx from UPS and I was ready to either open a vein and sit in a tub of hot water or take a trip down to ye olde call center and get some straight answers. My favorite part was the customer advocacy group that they employ whose advice is to log a complaint online. "Where does that complaint go?" I asked. "To our customer support center," they replied. "But they transferred me to you. Why would I sent them another email when I just told them what my problem was?"

We had a package that was delivered to a wrong address. The guy who it was delivered to, called FED EX and scheduled a pickup. The Driver went back out there and scanned it in, then delivered it a totally different address, scanned it out, LEFT ON PORCH. And walked away. I filed the claim, submitted all the documents, called the manager of the terminal the driver was out of, lodged a complaint with him, he vouched for me and said the guy was new, blah blah blah... and they still denied my claim.

Good luck.

Great comments on the Lit Club board by the way.

Cutting Desire

"Josh" says he was fully prepared when he amputated his left hand with a power tool. He says he had tried to cut it off before_once putting it underneath a truck and trying to crush it (the jack didn't collapse right); once attempting to saw it off with a table saw (he lost his nerve). He even spent countless miles driving around with...

The reason I need a new phone is because I had trouble connecting to the Internet last night. I reset my modem, disconnected it, rebooted my computer and reconnected the modem. Wouldn't work. After more than an hour of trouble shooting I give up and call tech support. They ask for my phone number, I get stand-alone DSL so I don't have a number. They...

As a terribly jaded person, I was surprised to see that not all news is bad news:

Very nice, ay?

sadista:
If that's true, it's spectacular news. They need to dump that stuff in landfills, and in the ocean too.

"Some authorities say the behavior of some suspected drug dealers revealed an odd mix of arrogance and naivet. Ralph Partridge, the special agent in charge of the DEA in San Diego, says that one suspect, a criminal-justice major, inquired after being charged "whether or not his arrest and incarceration would have an effect on him becoming a federal law-enforcement officer." Also arrested on drug charges...

I have a crushing headache. I don't know if it's caffein withdrawl or dehydration or both or neither. I took a caffein pill, chugged water, and I'm drinking a diet coke after a light lunch of egg and macaroni salad.

Had another good shift at work this morning. Clocked over $100 in 4 hours. I wanted more but it died down and my head isn't...

I love Johnny for a number of reasons. He's a Hollywood survivor, a working-man who shunned teeny-bopper, heart-throb, pin-up stardom in the beginning of his career to take more risky ventures, often stretching himself to portray characters that were people other than simplified versions of himself. He went into roles convincing us he was somebody else entirely, preferring the career of a character-actor rather than...

Forget Cloverfield- I'm giving top props to George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead for using a handheld digital camera to swat at the YouTube-ification of America. While Cloverfield wielded the woozy camera as a gimmick, Diary of the Dead gives it the center ring to ask a provocative question about the circus we call pop culture: What the hell out there is turning us...

i like kill 'em all better than ride the lightning or master of puppets. but both of those albums are also megaclassics. 'and justice for all' was good. the black album, not so much...and after that, it's downhill quickly.

There is something wrong with a society that embraces the memoirs of a 15 year old. We've become so celebrity obsessed that it's the fame itself, not what actions garnered it, that our plebeian masses value.

Paris Hilton, when told her autobiography made The Washington Post's best-seller-list, was quoted as replying "what's The Washington Post?" No matter, she's a best selling author who is completely...
