Have to make this short cause I have to go to work...yuck. puke
My dad came home last night, and my mom said his fever came down and he seems to be doing okay. The antibiotics HIS doctor had prescribed he'd been on for two weeks, and had seen no improvement. The ER doctor told her to throw that shit away, cause my dad's bladder infection...

Doh! Earnhardt Jr had a bad finish AGAIN. Argh. mad

How has your weekend been?

Doctors seem to love screwing up like that. I'm glad your father bumped into a decent one and finally got on the right meds. The family doctor should probably be switched entirely, though I know it's a horrible pain in the ass. Incompetence does not tend to go away.

Weirdness. Just got off the phone with my mom & my dad's in the hospital. First thing she said was "Don't panic!"
It doesn't seem too serious...he had a bladder infection and the antibiotics weren't clearing it up, and they gave him a different prescription but when my mom picked the medicine up it was the exact same thing. He had a high fever and...

I hope he recovers fully.

My mom is 65 and I really worry about her. She's in good health, and there's nothing to be concerned about. But she's like a close friend, and yeah, she's still my mom and I rely on her for help and support still.

My dad died a few years ago, way too young. He and I had a strained relationship at best, until about a year before he died, when we reconciled. A few months later, he got cancer.

So I really wish your dad well.

To answer your question about voting in Canada. I'm not too rare for never missing an election, but it's also not really common either. The turnout in federal elections is about 65-70%, but goes down each time. The turnout for provincial elections is lower, and the turnout for municipal elections is at best 50%. Like the US, a growing number of people are too apathetic to vote.

Were your books as a teen that bad? You make them sound that way. Do you ever post your erotica on SG? If you ever feel like sharing, I'm sure I'm not the only person who'd be interested.

i hope your dad gets better

Inspired by one of my friend's blogs, where he realized he'd never eaten sushi before, I realized there are several commonplace things I've never done that I sort of pride myself on. So what are yours? You don't have to be proud of it necessarily...just think of a fairly ordinary thing that you've somehow avoided thus far in your life, despite having ample opportunity. (NOT...

I know right? I am indeed a teen of the 80's, but I just somehow missed certain movies. Surreal... surreal

How are you today? smile

What a charming Sunday. Marksy and I braved the blistering 90-degree heat to have lunch with the oh-so-lovable stillfalling. We ate very tall sandwiches from Jason's Deli, then went to a public rose garden that was somewhat the worse for wear from the heat, but still quite enchanting with its chaotic overgrowth and abstract metal sculptures. There's a little coffeehouse right at the garden,...

Damn...what a storm. I was all in workday mode, got home from work, saw it was about to storm, figured I'd head out to the store after it blew over. Except it didn't. It rained and thundered like crazy, so I just snuggled up on the couch to watch VH1 (I Love the 70s Vol. II)--then SNAP! the power went off. So the power was...

I love when the power goes out like that (for a short time anyhow) for just this reason. So amazingly quiet. You just can't do that any other way without a power outage.

What a great journal entry! I can appreciate all of that. I love it when the world gets quiet. Also, you've inspired me to go get candles tomorrow since I've been out since the Winter.

I can certainly understand what you mean about the solitude aspect.

Hump Day! biggrin
I am absolutely freezing...I hate air conditioning. Well, I don't hate it, I'm glad I can keep my house at 78 rather than 98, but I hate the feeling of cold air blowing on me...*shivers* Marksy is having company right now and he always cranks up the air when somebody comes over. Plus I work in an office with huge industrial vents and...

I hate super cold air conditioning also! I guess I picked the right job...because it's hot as hell on the Buff. puke Really though I enjoy warmer weather, though my ideal is spring and fall because it's a nice moderate temp.

Totally a guy thing...its all that body hair. I much prefer it hot. At least if oyu are hot you can strip down to the bare minimum. I too hate the cool / cold air blowing directly on me.. I say as I am sitting onmy bed under an air vent in thermal pants smile I gotta figure out our new digital thermostat!

Ouch, another Monday.
The weekend turned out to be pretty good considering how much I was dreading "the shower" Saturday. Fortunately nobody came early and not too many people showed up. I didn't have a drop of alcohol either. shocked
But I was so damn tired from cleaning up I would have passed out if I drank. Note to self: do not attempt to decorate with...

Confetti, easter grass, and silly string are the three great PRIME EVILS of housecleaning. I guess with my prime evils mention you can tell I've been playing a lot of Diablo lately lol...

Yippee it's weekend time. That was sarcasm. tongue
Tomorrow is my dreaded debut as hostess to a bridal shower. I think I've got everything together so tomorrow will just be decorating and picking up the cake (which will be yummy, a Coldstone Creamery Raspberry Truffle Temptation cake.) Then again, I have enough Yeungling in the fridge to get me through just about anything. wink
Hey, that's a...

Damn...last night was a blast...literally. A cop did show but let us off the hook...according to Marksy he just asked if we were done and went on his merry way. I think I've figured out which nosy neighbor snitched on us...some crazy old lady who lives by herself down the street from us. We were probably ruining her Matlock rerun or something.

So I drank...

Superman was very good, definitely a continuation of the Christopher Reeve movies. Lots and lots of relationship angst. I was so happy that they used the John Williams music rather than trying to come up with something new.

I had the pleasure of going to a "lingerie shower" for my friend today. To some people, a lingerie shower consists of crotchless panties and penis-shaped lollipops. However, out in the backwoods of North Carolina, I considered her very lucky to get the satin nightgowns that she got, instead of the flannel jammies and "Git 'R Done" t-shirts I was afraid she'd get. smile
So now...
