Things are finally looking up!
Lovelife is going great, health is getting better, and it's only a few days till christmas.
But the best news is that:
1. I've been offered a bursary to start PhD study down at University of Nottingham from March onwards! It will be on my 'Mondo Americano: Transnational Appropriation of US films in a global context' topic which looks at foreign remakes of US films such as a Turkish version of Star Trek, a Filipino version of Batman, a Brazilian Star Wars and an Indonesian Terminator. So hopefully I can get the full three-year funding and at the end publish it all as a book!
AND
2. I'm on the final shortlist for the Cineworks film scheme (cineworks.co.uk) which is an entry level film funding programme which offers budgets of around 6000 - 10000 to 4-5 projects each year. I've submitted a treatment on the idea of doing a documentary on the Scottish SGs and I'm down to the final 10! The pitching session will be on Friday 13th January so fingers crossed I get the go-ahead to make what should be a fascinating project!
So wishing all you guys a fantastic xmas and new year!
