I guess with all the stuff that happened recently, I should do an update...
The big news is that I got out from hospital last weekend after spending two weeks lying in a hospital bed. It was nothing too serious or life threatening, but really damned frustrating. My crohn's disease has never forced me into hospital before. I just hope I won't have to go through surgery.
The worst thing was having to miss loads of important stuff, so that when I came out I'd :
1 - lost my job
2 - missed out on a chance of doing some tutoring
3 - had to pull out of my planned conference paper on the Suicide GIrls
4 - missed the panel interview to get short film funding (I was down to the last 5 shortlist!)
5 - had to spend hours in bed staring out the window, when I wanted to be spending time with my new girlfriend (who was lovely and managed to find the ward I was in, and bring me cool stuff to make the experience bearable)
6 - loads of other stuff I've probably blocked out...
I'm now stuck inside the house, supposedly getting better and recovering. But still feeling pretty shitty and the weight loss is not fun (especially when I was already very thin...)
But I've managed to get the short film body to put me in for next month's competition (so if I get through, I'll have the panel interview in January) so I can work on the script and get it perfect for when the time comes... I hope.
And I've been doing some stuff on my fanzine. The Bruce Campbell interview looks cool, and it will all likely be ready by Christmas. Suppose that's one advantage about being in here, I can give the zine my undivided attention... will aside from coming on SG
So trying to make the best of a shitty situation. Hopefully I'll be up and about soon. One of the most insane films ever made (Thundercrack) is showing at the Edinburgh filmhouse next week and I need to be there!
