Feeling much better today thankfully.

The last few months have been pretty hectic and it was all starting to get on top of me. The relationship problems have been a nightmare recently and I was returning to the land of SG to find many of my friends had disappeared and I was out of SG Scotland (for being Silent, ironically!) The stress of work was...

Up until yesterday I was planning to come home this weekend, and hopefully go see Tool on Sunday. Now I'm going to Download so not only am I seeing Tool, but also Deftones, Ginger & The Sonic Circus, Metallica, Secret Machines, Henry Rollins, and of course GnR.

Funny how life turns out

First entry for almost 3 months... quite ridiculous really.

Apologies for the fairly ominous last post, there were some problems in my relationship at the time, and I wasn't quite sure how to deal with it.

Well, I've now moved down to Nottingham to start on my PhD (studying how American cinema has been appropriated and used by other cultures around the world) and that...

Sorry you arent well, hope you get better soon. I just realised I havnt emailed you back yet about the documentary, I have to say Im a bit shy and private about these kind of things so I dont think Id be very good for it but I hope you can do something nice for it and get it all working. If theres any other way I might be able to help without actually appearing in it then just ask smile

Things are finally looking up!

Lovelife is going great, health is getting better, and it's only a few days till christmas.

But the best news is that:

1. I've been offered a bursary to start PhD study down at University of Nottingham from March onwards! It will be on my 'Mondo Americano: Transnational Appropriation of US films in a global context' topic which looks at...

I guess with all the stuff that happened recently, I should do an update...

The big news is that I got out from hospital last weekend after spending two weeks lying in a hospital bed. It was nothing too serious or life threatening, but really damned frustrating. My crohn's disease has never forced me into hospital before. I just hope I won't have to go...

Finally finished my dissertation on John Waters! It's about 18,000 words long and deals with the criticisms that he is a 'sell out', the economics of his relationship with New Line Cinema, and how he maintains the image of an 'alternative' filmmaker while working in mainstream Hollywood.

Next piece of academic work is a conference paper on the SGs! tongue

Last week has been a little crazy.

Decided to head down to the Manchester Festival of Fantastic Films (basically a horror fest but they did show some old British b-movies too) to help out my friend Calum was helping organise it.

Didn't get to watch many films but that didn't matter because I got to spend the entire weekend with Ruggero Deodato, the infamous director...

Time for a new entry I think.

Well, since missing out on the PhD funding, I've been putting all my efforts into sorting something useful to do with the next year (while I wait till next time round).

In the short term this has meant moving back home, but I am planning to get loads of work experience and attempt to get some of my...

Could be... trying to think where I'd be recognisable from...

If I do end up coming home for part of the year, I'll be sure to come along to an SGScotland meet!
