So I went to an interview the other day for a customer service job in the mall, but I'm not very hopeful 'cause I haven't been having much luck so far, even though I'd be awesome at all the different jobs at the different places I applied and interviewed at. Since they wouldn't have enough hours for me so that I'd have to keep a second job for sure I don't think I'm going to get it, if I didn't have to have 30 hours I probably would have nailed it.
I hate that jobs do that, I tell them I'll work around their schedule, but that unless they're giving me the hours I need I can't just come in whenever they want... if they don't schedule me and I happen to not be at my other job I'd be glad to come in, but it's frustraiting. Argh. She offered to let me interview for a different position, but I didn't want to. Also, part of the problem is I'd have to quit my current job if I get the other job...since it's a conflict of interest according to the lady... so I'd have to find a second job where I could get only a few hours and not in the mall.
But! I got a call back from Jessica McClintock, which is the dress boutique my friend got a job in. When I went to visit her I found out my ex-coworker Jasmin works there, so I already have two friends in the store. I put them both down on my application, although I don't think the lady talked to them...but hopefully they'll both put in a good word for me. So the lady talked to me over the phone and asked me a few questions as a pre-interview, then set up a real interview for Monday. I was going to go to some job thing with my mom at her church, but I can go the Monday after, hopefully. My friend says she gets 30 hours, which is what I need...and I have a completely open availability if they can give me that. They started my friend off at a $1.25 more than I make now, and about $.75 more than I made at the theater. And I've seen what they do, and it looks so simple... I'm a good sales person and good at customer service... I just hate working around food, which I wouldn't be... and I'd finally get into retail...I know most people say to stay out of retail, but I think it'll be mostly fun and I know I don't like working with food service.
But if I get the job I'll have retail experience for finding other retail jobs, and this will be especially helpful when I move to St. Louis.... They have a Torrid in St. Louis, which I want to work at so bad... or I might try Lane Bryant since I buy my nice pants and underwear from there... If the local Lane Bryant wasn't closed right now I'd have applied there.
But if I get this job I'll probably try to save up 'til a least December, although I'd rather work there for six months...which might not be a bad idea so I don't move up during the winter since I'm not used to snow, especially to driving around in it...if my little old car can even handle it. Plus, if I don't get accustomed to it I might run around barely dressed in it just out of excitement at getting it, and then get a death disease and die.
But first, to get the job! Here's to hoping/praying I get it and finally am free of food service
