Well.......
It's official, i am a complete loser.
I spent the week rather sickly and depressed due to the weather.
I had wanted to take a day off from work this week due to some ongoing sinus/ear problems which i had mentioned in my previous entry.
But alas, another co worker had a knee injury and had to take the rest of the week off.
I did not have the heart to take a sickday and leave the hospital very shortstaffed at the front desk, and so there i was every day, bitter and congested, and fully realizing that my good intentions would surely go unnoticed.
How right i was....
yesterday, i arrived at twelve, only to find out that we were going to try and close the hospital early due to a lot of cancellations. Certain appointments were scheduled earlier than they had been, and the doctors and staff were getting antsy as the weather outside was getting a lot worse than it had been previously been forecast.
I had to do the dreaded close out.....which meant i was responsible for the computer closeout and doing the tally up for the finances for that day.
A wonderful coworker stayed with me while i did this.....we were the last two people to leave at exactly 3:45 p.m.
And by the time we left, the traffic was horrendous, and the streets were a sheet of ice.
It took me an hour to get home, usually it is a 25 minute drive.
When i awoke today, i felt even more sick, and so tired, i felt like i could sleep for 24 hrs straight.

frown I also bailed on a certain event i was looking forward to all week.
The lovely Kera had invited me to a poetry reading in Harvard square.
And here i am, still sick and still pissed, that my overly responsible behaviour is dedicated to a job.....that not only under pays me, but seriously does not appreciate me.
And that i probably missed a kickass reading in boston.
Still congested and miserable....
and doing something in my journal, which i try to not make a habit of doing.

Bitching and venting.

I stayed in bed most of the day.
I managed to get out for about an hour to run some errands.
But i still wish i could have made it to that reading.
I'm tired of the cold weather already.
And i am hoping that i don't spend the entire winter feeling sick.

Anyway, many thanks to all who participated in my little Q & A.
A lot of wonderful answers and opinions were given.
And the top three favorite John Cusack films mentioned in the previous entry were.....

Better Off Dead, High Fidelity, and Grosse Point Blank.

Of course, "One Crazy Summer" was mentioned by Vauxhall
and "Gross Point Blank" actually disqualified by Darke due to the appearance of Joan Cusack....obviously he is not too fond of her shocked

Which lead me to believe that even though John Cusack is wonderful as a dramatic actor, many folks out there tend to love him in his more comedic roles.
and a big shout out to Lord_Frous for mentioning some foreign films that even i was unfamiliar with.

Looks like i need to do some studying.

And thank you to NoFi for dedicating his journal to the passing away of Richard Pryor, a man who provided us with many laughs in his lifetime.

Thanks again for all your wonderful input.
When i'm feeling a bit better, and a little less yucky, i will once again put up some film trivia or some sort of film quiz to help you pass the time....
until then....

Yeah, we both end up taking photographs along the way. The sets look much the same, for the most part, but not specifically by design. I'm actually in the midst of uploading them now. You can expect a URL soon. smile
