if you're counting down the days until a girl turns 18 (even as a "joke") and you're at least 25 or older, you're a creep at best and a pedophile at worst, cuz all that means is that you find her attractive NOW but you don't want the legal troubles of trying to get in her pants (and I don't care if she says she wants to; find women your own age!)

I think media skews this, too. Once we're out of HS ourselves, most of us are exposed far more teenagers on TV and movies than in real life. And they're almost all played by 25 year olds or even older. the practicalities of this are overwhelming, but it doesn't just smudge the lines of appropriate attraction, it smears them into a vague haze. Is it weird fro me to crush on a character who's supposed to be 20, but is played my a 30 year old and written by a 40 year old with all their perspective? dunno. I do know that I see real live 17 year olds out in the real-ass world and even when I note that they're really good looking, it stirs nothing sexual - it's just an observation, the same as of their height or clothes or whatever. In porn I actually have to look PAST all the titles advertising "teen" "18" "barely legal" "step-sister" or whatever because it just squicks me out.
