so I had read an article about how lots of young men are having trouble getting or maintaining erections, and the study claims it's from the wide availability of porn, since men tend to move on to really obscure types of porn once "mainstream" porn doesn't "do it" for them anymore, if you catch my drift. (Now, not to sound really old, but back when I was a young man porn was something you either found in magazines or in VHS tapes tucked in the back of an older person's closet LOL)
Not being a young man anymore (for many MANY years), on the surface this makes total sense. If you condition yourself to only be aroused by "weirder" things, eventually you will have trouble getting or maintaining an erection, since you've programmed your penis to only respond to obscure arousal/stimulation. But there is an actual fix: anything you can program, you can deprogram.
The how is not a quick fix, nor will it be a "one and done" type situation. If you (or someone you know) has this issue, one of the first steps is to stop going down that porn rabbit hole, reconnect with your body, don't use outside stimuli at all (i.e. no videos or pictures), use your imagination.
Next, if you have a partner, remember that an orgasm is A goal of sex, it's not the ONLY goal. Try to enjoy your partner's company, don't put any pressure on having an orgasm; if you've been a selfish lover, now is the time to really learn what turns your partner on, explore their body.
And finally, accept that progress is not a straight line forward; it weaves and warps, for every two steps forward you may take a step or two back. Just remember, that if you don't want to be a young man in his 20s forced to take blue pills to get it up, that this is a worthy goal and to be patient with yourself. Eventually, you should be able to find your way back.
