Ever since I can remember, people have always felt comfortable telling me things, almost like confessing (I do consider myself a priest of Anubis, but that's been as an adult, so that can't have always been it). Strangers, friends, family, they all have no problem opening up to me. I've even had strangers tell me something, almost as if they couldn't stop themselves, and say at the end, "Wow, I have NO idea why I just told you that."
Now, to be fair, it's not like I run around telling the secrets/confessions that I've been given; I keep every one of them like a gift, close to my heart (except for the ones that make me feel really icky; those, I lock away so I never have to think of them again LOL). And one time I was proven that not everyone likes being reminded that you heard their innermost secrets.
It was back in 2007, and a friend and I had went to a party at the Hard Rock Hotel pool, all-you-can-drink. My friend and I met some people, and while she was making googly-eyes at one of them, another guy sat next to me (I was buzzed, but he was super drunk) and began telling me things about his brother, things that I'm sure he didn't want a stranger to know. Fast forward three hours later, and my friend and I ran into this group of guys again. The one my friend was interested in brought us over to their table in the restaurant, and the drunk guy from before was irritated, asking why strangers were gonna sit with them. The friend tried to remind drunk guy that he'd met us both before, and in fact had been having a very in-depth conversation with me. He still denied it (and even called his friend a liar), so as buzzed as I was, I thought it would soothe this drunken beast if I brought up the secrets he'd shared with me. It did not go well.
He stood up and asked me if I was some sort of spy, or some creepy stalker to know the things I did. Then, he tried to climb up on the table and lunge over at me (his friends held him back). Finally, he promised to kill me if he ever saw me again. The one guy and my friend took me by the arm and hustled me out of there as fast as they could (to be honest, I was laughing cuz I thought it was funny and wasn't taking that guy's threats seriously). Once we were out of the restaurant the friend assured me that the drunk guy had meant what he said, and maybe it was best not to come around them anymore.
So lesson learned. Some people don't like being reminded that you almost seemed to have some sort of truth-telling power over them, which is why that's the only time I ever let a confession slip. No point in antagonizing people (especially drunk ones).
