I've been trying to not be so angry all the time, but with the rapidly approaching onset of my least favorite holiday (and I don't like holidays in general), it's been difficult. Yes, I'm talking about V-day. And when people who KNOW you've been single for over 3 years have the nerve to ask me, "so, what are you doing for Valentine's Day?" it's really difficult not to unleash hell on them. I finally snapped at one coworker and said, "Well, you know I've been single for over 3 years now, we're in the middle of a pandemic, and I work that day as it's the start of my work week. So, I don't know, I won't be doing a goddamn thing except maybe grabbing myself some dinner at a fast food joint on my way home."
Never seen someone deflate so quickly as they did.
Now, if you want to tell me what your plans are, I'm listen and be polite. But don't feel you need to ask me a painful obvious question first to talk about your "fun night" after I'm done. Just say your piece and we can both move on with our work day. It really strikes me as insensitive and tone deaf on their part.
