One of the great joys of having an apartment is being able to sit outside on the balcony while torrents of rain cascade three feet in front of you.

Ran my first 16k in awhile last night; and in just over 93 minutes. It felt great, and I've been rebuilding my running tolerance in prep for CityChase on Saturday. CityChase is an annual event hosted...

haha yeah, I wasn't so thrilled when I realized that either. No fun.

Last night I learned that bees are huge fans of mint. Around dusk, about a dozen of them were perpetually thwapping against my apartment window to try to get at the plant. I cleaned the windows a couple of days ago, which may have contributed to the problem. Either way, I hope they've learned that my mint plant is the one they can't get to...

I haven't updated since the Olympics? Holy carp.

I've been blogging infrequently over at Metroblogging Vancouver and organized a meetup last night for Global Reddit Meetup Day @ the Alibi Room. About 30 "Redditors" RSVP'ed; six people actually left their basement and showed up. Our server (who took the time to put on a "Hi, my name is" nametag and chat with us about social...

So far, the Olympics stuff I've managed to participate in has been incredible. I've

-Seen Sidney Crosby, Pat Quinn, Russ Courtnall, and k.d. lang.

-Watched a live taping of the Colbert Report, and got to meet him and have him sign my copy of I Am America (And So Can You!)

-Met Said the Whale, and had them sign my copy if Islands Disappearing. Very...

I set up a Twitter account. I've found Tweetie to be a great way to kill a minute on elevator rides or Skytrain trips. I've always thought that Jeopardy was more fun in reverse; the answers ridiculous to the questions posed. Take todays muse;

Who is Lenin? Times Change: In 1990 a statue of this Russian was removed from a Bucharest square after three decades...

Ha - nice reference. Perhaps you're right.

Very cool about the dress rehearsal. I just watched a torch hand-off on the relay from one runner to another - it was pretty inspiring.

I went to Hopscotch last night; an annual premium alcohol tasting held at the Rocky Mountaineer train station. It was great, and I left with a few great recommendations, a bit tipsy, and the knowledge of the worst scotch on the planet.

Probably my favorite scotch at the event was Glenmorangie's Quinta Ruban. It has a faint citrus aroma to it and a great burnt...

Childhood is a strange thing when you think about it. Things that were normal for me might have sound weard to others.

Tho I wish I was some kind of super smart person who actually had a great job and everything I dream of. wink That would really make my bullies feel bad. But some of my bullies happens to be really highly edducated and have great jobs. =/

Thanks, man. Best of luck to you!

Saw Dinosaur Jr. the other night. Great live band, left my ears ringing for most of the following day. As I get older, I think my opinion of moshing has shifted. I used to enjoy the punk pits I engaged in when I was a kid, but sometimes now I find the shows they appear at and the nature of the pit is pretty questionable....

The closer the Olympics get, the less I want them here. The public transit is going to be a total mess, as the systems are already overloaded between 7-9 AM and 3-7 PM. It's going to be a constant barrage of full skytrains, restaurant queues, and foot traffic.

I'm not opposed to the Vancouver tourism in general; our economy thrives on it. But the Olympics...

I appreciate this post ... it's helpful to hear the other side of the Olympic bid. We're led to believe it's euphoria for the locals when, in fact, it sounds like anything but. I'll look forward to your blog during the Games. Hang in there.

I haven't blogged in so long that I feel I should be writing about the reanimation of Andy Warhol or something. Instead, I'm just going to recommend not playing Arkham Asylum until 1 AM or later. This is how the previous three nights have ended.

Me: 11 PM? I'm an adult, and don't need to get up till 8!
