I cleared out my friends/interesting list of anyone I've had little or no contact with recently. If you want back on the list, just let me know. Hope I don't cause any stress.

Sadly, I have to go away. Sudden financial upheaval, so I'm cutting back everything.

Talk to you folks around. It's been nice.

I'm back home and feeling good. Visiting my parents is over for a little while, barring medical disasters. Meh.

I'm going through another cycle of really focusing on my writing. I'll choke down for a month or so here, and churn out a lot of prose, and then wallow in rejection for a whie. But whatever. I'm happy. Happy-ish. Happy enough for my parameters.

I...

Goddamn I wish I could focus long enough to churn something decent out.

I know what you mean about holiday. I haven't been away properly in style since I went to Australia (courtesy of Fosters) in 2001. Now I don't really have the funds to go anywhere, nor anyone to go with... *le sigh*

Tomorrow I head out to visit my parents. Again. For hopefully the last time this year. It's to be a quick trip.

I stumbled across an article about my hometown, Asheville NC. It described a number of wonderful things about the city, from its diversity (for a small southern burg) to its art scene. It painted a really wonderful picture of interesting nightlife, lots of...

Time to revisit, reclaim. I have a deep-seated passion for my hometown. I can't even imagine not being in love with the blocks I strode as a child, the theaters I made out in in high school, the parks I misplayed fly balls in every summer. Maybe I owe more to my parents than I realized...

I've pretty much calmed down. I'm not happy, but I'm calm about it. I feel like, everyday, I wake up in a smaller and smaller room. It's not a good feeling.

But hey. Whatever.

I'm just...I'm pissed. I'm tired and I'm pissed and I'm worn the fuck out. Fuck. Out. I put up with a lot of shit in my job and my life and whatever but it's all just at odds with my personality. I shouldn't fucking be here, in this shitty town, on my shitty street, at the shitty job. But I am, I'm doing it because...

Went to the Nine Inch Nails show here in Chicago on Saturday. Let me tell you a little bit about my nails history.

When I discovered nin, I was in high school. I was the son of a preacher, raised in a small, desperately rural town in the mountains of north carolina. You ever heard of the hatfields and the mccoys? My best friend was...

Well, I guess that's points in Reznor's favor. If he was able to jostle one honky-tonk hillbilly loose from the hooks of sermonizing, then I'll stop publicly flagellating that shitty Fragile record.

I saw Kung Fu Hustle this weekend. I liked it, but I have one complaint. I've always been a fan of true kung fu movies. I don't mind the occasional wire trick, but generally I like my fu tru. I appreciate the history behind the legends of the wuxen, I even studied long fist for a while, but I'm getting tired of dependence on cgi...

Hey I'm right there with you m'man.
Kung Fu Hustle was brilliant. So very much better (alas!) than the sorely-disappointing Hitchhiker movie.
And that Night Watch "trilogy" intrigues the hell out of me.
