So here's the trouble. Here's the thing I don't know how to deal with. I have a friend who was a casual friend, and then we became good friends, and then things got weird and now she hates me. *Hates* me. When we first started hanging out, I gave her a copy of my first book and signed it and so forth. Last week she...

I was going to do a post about the nature of depression, and the role it plays in the artist's life. But then I came home and the registry on my laptop was fucked, and I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall the OS. So that was totally appropriate.

And then I read my friend's LJ, and she had twins but one of...

I hate being someone that someone else is trying to forget forever.
lumo:
frown not fun. Clearly if thats their attitude though I think the problem lies largely with them
shad:
Meh. It was a bad situation. I'm unwilling to blame them, or myself. Just sometimes things don't work out, and you have to deal with the fallout. So I'm dealing. But it still sucks.

God, it's like I'm never on here. So.

Got the final cover for my next book today. It's good, though I specifically gave instructions about the main character having reasonable breasts, and in the final she has hentai breasts. And no pants. Well, not quite that bad, but still. Unreasonable boobies. It probably only bothers me because I gave that instruction. You look at it,...

I finished my line edits tonight. We're deep into the "nonglamorous" portion of the writing life, now. My eyes are tired, I spent the entire day in a soul-crushing office. Came home, fixed dinner, watched a little football with my wife. Then I came in here and stared at line edits for most of an hour. Very. Very. Boring. But it's done. And tomorrow I'll...

One year. There are still revisions being done, still marketing stuff to take care of, conventions to attend. But I have a publication date. One year. You know what that feels like? I'm not sure I do, honestly. Too much to do. But it's nice to have a date to look forward to. Or dread. Or just not worry about.

One year.

Well, I finished the first draft of the book. Hooray. It's off to my agent, who will hopefully have revision notes in the next week or so. The manuscript is due to the editors near the end of June, and I want some time to get it right. In the meantime, I've got a synopsis due to nottingham. And I should really get cranking on...

Complicated days. At the very end of the book, and it just keeps unfolding. The narrative goes on, no matter what my outline says. Ah well.

And how are you?

cue crickets.

Trying to get the blog back together on here. I sold the book, some months ago, on a proposal and the strength of my Interzone sales. The official press release just came out. So...here it is.

Heart of Veridon

I'm pretty happy with it. And there are other things that we're negotiating. I suppose the next step is trying to do just this, all the...

So my bibliography so far:

"A Walking of Crows" Electric Velocipede 10
"The Song" Interzone 204
"Distro" Interzone 206
"Toke" Interzone 210

Interzone has one more story of mine to publish, and then the world is caught up. I mean, until the novel gets done. Sounds like I should get to writing some new stories, eh?
sockpuppet:
Um, so what name do you publish under?

Just finished The Etched City by K.J. Bishop. I highly recommend it. Best book I've read all year, and I've been on a "let's find some quality books to read" kick, so that's saying something.

My god, there's a zombie board game? That's so totally brilliant.

So, technically I'm back. We'll see. My life is pretty damn hectic right now. This post is just a placeholder, to get that "bye" post off the front page. Huzzah.
velocity:
I'd be happy to read it, if you think that would help. I'm a pretty good amateur editor.
