I'm gonna take today off from story writing. Maybe. At the very least, this journal update will not include any actual prose. If the muse grips me later on, which I doubt, I'll write something. Best to not question the muse.
I visited a friend in crete, illinois on saturday. Crete is just south of chicago, in the same sort of way that mexico is just south of seattle. Had fun, did all the sorts of things you expect suburban ubergeeks to do. Like, play d&d and discuss insulation and the advantages and disadvantages of living near an elementary school. Man. What a life.
So, on the way home the femme and I missed our exit. It's not fair to say we missed our exit, really, since our exit didn't look like an actual highway exit so much as it looked like a convenient way to smash your car into a wall. Poorly marked, to say the least. Anyway. So, instead of driving back to our quiet suburban home, we ended up driving all the way to the chicago loop at midnight. Being old, I was surprised at how much traffic there was. Still, it was cool to see the skyline at night; an unexpected beauty carved in dark sky and neon.
The theme for the night was idiots in sebrings. I apologize if you or one of your friends drives a sebring, but that night there was a cabal of bad drivers determined to single-handedly give the whole chrysler line a bad name. They covered the spectrum. Slow drivers, drunk drivers, drivers unfamiliar with any control in their car other than the accelerator, even one guy who was both accelerating and braking at the same time. Takes talent, that.

We're only about a month and a half old as of now, so we're just recruiting and practicing. I'm going to estimate our first exhibition in late fall of this year. If all goes well.
