The point reinforced last night was that electronic music goes better with hip hop. Caught the Warp Records party with Prefuse 73, Andrew Weatherall and Plaid. Were back to broken beat again, and some of the noises last night really recalled early-mid 90s breaks around when the Chemical Brothers first hit. The party vibe was okay, but i still think that a lot of the IDM kids need to let it out a little - most have adopted the indie rock stand around and watch stuff approach to the shows, which is kind of dumb when the only thing to watch is a nerdy guy or two behind a powerbook. But yeah, I was pretty happy with Plaid's set, though it worked better earlier when they were tighter and focusing on hip-hop oriented beats and samples. Later, on they would start to get more abstract and sloppy, almost to the point of annoyance, and then would break it down to just beats. Not a bad way to go, a bit of a tease, but something wasn't working there for me. Still better than most other junk I hear these days, and hell it was great not thinking about the war all night.

I came home, hoever, and wasn't able to fall asleep so now i am at that stage of tiredness where i feel like i'm tripping a bit. Eeesh... bring on da' coffee, caffeine fast is ovah'...
