My feet hurt.
Actually the whole day was a bit entertaining on retrospect. There were moments walking through midtown, where you could see in people's faces an underlying concern, like just under the surface there were parts of people getting wiggy. People kept their shit together and as time went on and people realized it wasn't Armageddon, things got more relaxed and even festive. The gauge of true civilization, I believe, is how people react under crisis. The less civilized a society will degenerate into chaos quicker, as panic causes people to revert to reptile brain behavior. It has been pointed out a lot the last 12 hours that we have progressed since 77. Thats something to feel positive about.
Some good signs on the walk: gung ho civilian guys directing traffic, running into my friend Lauren on 2nd and 23rd as she lent me 8 dollars to buy water with, a real traffic cop to a car that wont move when motioned: What, are you waiting for the LIGHT to CHANGE?, friendly Chinese man I talked to over the Brooklyn Bridge, guy at the end of bridge directing people to public waters fountains.
I walked to Halcyon, where my friends work and where I do my party, and ended my 9 mile walk with a cold beer and a cigarette on the sidewalk. Followed by another beer, and then a tall glass of sangria. We close the place and as it gets dark, move to friend Shawns place where we cook dinner, and move to the roof where we watched stars and sky for hours. What a nice night. Great weather. Friends drop me here at 2 and I make my way to bed in the dark. At 8 am the power goes on and I can hear 1010: No subway service to Manhattan. Ah. Day off.

Well, I only lost power for about a minute actually, so to be quite honest i didn't know anything had happened until late in the afternoon. I've been working late night shifts and sleeping most of the days away.
