What Is "Alternative"?

I propose you, the reader, ponder this for a second. You're on this site for a reason, after all. It's a site that features styles that are counter to the "norm". You probably feel like an outcast in "typical" circles. You feel like your look doesn't mesh well with "societal norms".
Here, you can own it. You can be you. You can be what you are. You are counter-culture.
So decorate your bodies! Show 'em off! Get weird with it! Then submit your galleries that.... look... like... everyone... else's...

Wait what?

I strive to make my sessions stand out. Something that catches your eye. That's all we want, right? To be able to stand out? To be noticed for who we are? For the gifts we bring to the table?
There are thousands of different cookies that are all round. Why not be a star shape?

Let's bring some YOU to the table. Every tattoo is a story. Every piercing, a statement. Let's take the words and capture them in photo form. A picture IS worth a thousand words, after all.

I couldn’t agree more with this, or at least what I think you’re getting at lol. Ik you posted this a few months ago, but I’ve also noticed in the last few years or so that a lot of sets and posts have a habit of starting with an original idea that was genuinely good, which ended up becoming popular, and then inevitably copycatted. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as good ideas can be built upon and used to inspire new ones, but I think it’s becoming increasingly normal to see on here versus how everything was a decade ago. Like you’ve pointed out, we’re all here because we embrace the alternative to what’s popular in culture for one reason or another, but obviously that’s going to lead to our ideas and what we enjoy to partially or even completely match in some ways, which would invariably lead to a sub-mainstream within our little counterculture family. I’d love to see more personal stories, hobbies, and dreams told in sets that aren’t represented in typical everyday reality, from the model to the photographer. There’s really no reason we can’t get back to that point on the site, especially with being how diverse our community is.
