"And the band played On"

FIRST: FIXATION ON THE DARKNESS

For years the mainstream music industry has been looking to the underground (d.i.y.) scene for influence. Whether it is the fashion, the lifestyle, the dancing, even the music itself is reworked to feed it back to the masses

SECOND: RISE ABOVE

The underground scene has a life of its own, it is a living breathing entity. Like a phoenix its dies and rises again from its own ashes. Once thriving scenes loose the interest of the fans the bands get played out and over exposed leaving the innovative bands to suffer in the now dying underground scene.

THIRD: SHADOWBOXING

Aggressive music is gaining momentum, heavy metal, hardcore, and punk music has an audience. The music industry knows this and is already trying to latch on and squeeze all the money out of it as possible. How does this effect the underground music? Unsigned bands continue to drive their local scenes, while the national acts garner all the publicity.

FORTH: A FIRE IN BABYLON

The Nu-Metal acts are accused of selling out because their major label albums lack the aggressiveness of their indi releases. While most hardcore and metal acts continue to release extremely heavy music despite signing with major labels. Meanwhile the music industry is still force feeding the masses the bastard child of pop music and Punk. Where does the loyalty of the fans reside? Is it with the underground heroes fighting to keep a scene alive or the former underground bands that are attracting the "MTV crowds" to their shows?

FIFTH: BETRAY

The focus shifts back to the rape of the underground scene. Moshing, the dance that the underground created is now common place at every concert event. Now stage diving, crowd surfing, and pile-ups can be witnessed on MTV or at a Hip-Hop event almost daily. However the media only focus its attention on the negative ultra-violent moshpits that they themselves created ignoring the camaraderie shown at the underground shows.

FINALLY: I WILL BE HEARD

Q. What do the fans think?

A. Comprehensive interviews with the fans and the people who hate metal, hardcore, and punk.

Q. What do the Bands think?

A. Interviews and live performances with the underground bands struggling to make something of themselves and the national acts that have gotten the recognition they deserve.
