Memorial Day.
I am not going to a cookout,
I am not getting drunk.
I am not taking advantage of huge savings on any crap that is being advertised for a memorial day sale.
Today I think about my friends and family that died in service to this nation.
I think about the thousands and thousands of people that I don't know that did the same.
I think about their families.
And I think about where this country might be if some of them had not gone when called.
What would it be now? Some English colonies? A former nation divided as spoils of war between Japan and Germany?
I don't like war. I've been there. So I have more right to say than most. But I love most of the people who are willing to defend us in time of crises. And I despise the way they are sometimes misused. But for that, I dispise the onse who make the decisions, not those who have sworn to carry out their tasks. And I despise those who would blame the soldier, the airman, the Marine or the sailor who has given up his or her constitutional rights to defend the rights of the rest of the country.
To all who have laid down their lives fighting for freedom and safety of another. American, Canadian, British and anyone else. Too those who are even now in harm's way, and to those who will answer the call in the future and pay for the freedom of others with their lives. My love, respect and my best wishes to you and your loved ones who mourn you, but be proud of you for doing something you felt needed doing, no matter how high the risk.
